Following, followers, follow you, follow me?

Question for those of you who have been back here for awhile and know - do I seriously have to try to track down people by searching and manually follow them, or is everyone who still has original user names and was previously followed STILL in my friend list? I had a HUGE friend list before and it made it easy to interact and easy to see new posts or updates from people I frequently interacted with. Here is my plea to my old Mylot friends - please follow me or leave me comments in here so I can find and follow you. Otherwise, I may never find you lol.
Also, why do we have following now and not friends? In my opinion, the friend list was easier.

We were friends from way back and so it was easy for us to interact, but those who quit and had to open a new account look like newbies now..new name and pics..so we have to hunt them down in people..I think i have it all figured out now after a month..

I just came back to the site as well but I did notice that I still have soem followers. The amount is less than hen I left but I figure many people may have canceled their accounts. I am not totally sure. I figure I am basically starting over after being gone so long and I am okay with that.

I am not sure if it's all, but I think the "friend list" remains. As I see I am following many people now, I think it's from the old mylot. "Follow" seems to be a new term now. I think "friends" is a mutual connection, we need to send friend request, then the other party needs to accept the request, and we become friends. In this way, we are following each other. But, "follow" is just one way, I follow you but you might not follow me, and we don't need to send and accept request. Perhaps it's easier to implement and use. There might be many "hanging friend requests" out there if one doesn't accept the request. Though I like the term "friend", I prefer the following concept.

I'm just trying to figure out if it's a benefit to follow and have people follow you back. There used to be a function where you could see all of your friends' discussions and you could basically read down the line of their discussions and comment on them - without having to search for anything other than their name. It made things easy to locate and respond to.

Welcome back to mylot. Those users who were in your friends' list in the previous version would still appear as your 'followers'. I think if you keep starting new discussions, your old friends would take notice and would respond. In that case, you could check if you are 'following back' to your mylot friends or not. If you are not following them, you could start 'following' them.

I don't remember the friends list but I can imagine that it would be a lot better with both. A lot easier yes.
