Today, I came across a very interesting quote from none other than Marilyn Monroe. She was a very strong and inspirational woman, and continues to be an icon in America today. The quote reads, "A wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left."
I think this is saying that having expectations for others can often leave you disappointed, so it is better not to do so. (This is also a discussion topic which I have recently read on here).
What is your opinion on this quote?

I think it is possible to love, believe and stay without having expectations. I suppose if you live in the moment and focus on the moment then you can love and believe fully. Life to me is precious and beautiful and we are meant to feel it. I have spent this life learning how to live in the moment and release expectations and I am not fully there yet, but I sure have enjoyed the journey and will keep going.

Wow, very well said. Thank you! I think living in the present is a lesson I will have to learn soon as well. It's not that I live in the past too much, but I worry about the future too much, and that is never good either!

@roomfortwo I have been guilty of living too much in the past and worrying too much about the future. The past three years have been when I really have started to live more in the present and it has been wonderful. I think it is something you have to work on constantly but the payoff is totally worth it.

@sunnypub I believe focusing solely on the right here, right now is a habit that everyone should get themselves into, myself included.

That's very true- you can't live life with a negative outlook!

Of course. First impressions are everything, but sometimes can be misleading.

True, I have heard many things about the life of Marilyn Monroe, and it is a sad one indeed...

@simone10 Yes, it's very depressing to think about the fact that many people go through such hardships in their lives, and are not alive long enough to find happiness.
