I really have to hold myself back and keep a hand over my mouth....

when I see people's mistakes online. Misspellings and grammatical issues drive me buggy. I am a believer in foreigners who come here to the US should know the language or be actively learning it. It is rather irritating to me to have to try to decipher what they are writing. I see this on here and on the sites I write articles for. How can these mistakes be overlooked and their work published? Don't get me wrong. I see where I have made mistakes too, but the moderator didn't catch it. Moderators need to do a better job. I think it makes the sites look bad. Shouldn't this work be professional? Am I wrong?

That is true. We can only do the best we can.

I haven't seen anything that bad on here as yet. I just don't see it as fair to have someone who obviously can not speak or write the English language have their work published and mine rejected for minor, hard to find errors.

@simone10 I can usually understand them but it gets old when I can't and only have so much time to spend here. I have heard a lot about self publishing but would rather go the other route if at all possible. A lot more assurance on the other side.

@celticeagle I totally agree! Have you tried self publishing? I know a lot of authors are going that way now but I don't know if it is profitable or even worth the time to do it.

Though my English is still not professional and fluent yet (English is not my first language), I agree with you. Sometimes, it's hard for me to read and understand too. By saying that, I am glad I have given the chance to learn and practice my English on the Internet. The more I write, the more I read, the better I learn.
Besides the English proficiency, I believe some are using mobile device to write the message or article, and hence it may have some weird mistakes. I am still not used to use my tablet to write any message, as I always got something wrong, and it's troublesome to go back and correct it.

That certainly is not helping those who need the help. Only a hindrance and making it more difficult to be understood. The world moves too fast and things like this are what happens because of it.

non-published things i can let slide a bit (pertaining to online commentary and such) if it still can be reasonably understood, but i know what you mean.
i've been seeing glaring errors in books and magazines lately, and our own local newspaper did the big daddy of errors on page one-the triple S.that one drives me nuts.

It makes editors and proofread look bad. I am liable to get excited about my latest article and submit it without a full editing to my shame at times. I think a part of being a professional is doing these small things to make our work look like pros. Makes me mad at myself when I see a mistake I have made and I had the opportunity to find and correct and didn't. Ugh! Embarrassing.

I am not a Writer ,so i know i make mistakes. But i hope i can get around a conversation with someone who is from another Country trying to explain something to me..I can only imagine what it is like to write English when their first language is what they really want to write in.

Yes, that is true. I have had some negative experiences that were really bad and unfair. (Read above response.)

I can see that from your standpoint that would be true.
