We could easily talk about how your story began and How you think it will end or i can tell you about what i did for my children on each of their birthdays ..
Since i will leave it up to you to tell me your story, I will tell you my gift to each of my children.
I took all of my photos that have been passed down from many generations and made them into a memory book..pictures and stories of my memories..so they can have a part of me when i am gone.
each of my children seem to love them and i have now started on my first two grandchildren with theirs.
The simplest things seem to make a story happen right before your eyes and i loved every part of mine..Good or bad..

My walls are covered in memories. Not most people's idea of wallpaper but that's their problem.
I have special little things set aside for each of the kids that are a shared story or one they know from way back.
I lost a lot of my pictures in a flood or they would have them too. I'm big on pictures.

So sorry you lost a lot of pictures because of a flood. The same thing happened to me when Typhoon Ondoy struck.

I have a huge box and a few photo books filled with pictures of my girls. A scrap book seems like a fantastic idea. I also have several copies of the same photos from school picture days and such but do not have the heart throw them away. I just had the idea to use them to create a montage. With all the pictures I have, I can make enough to gift to grandparents and other family members.

What I have noticed however is that today's generation is not quite into taking interest in their family history - I may be wrong.
But you are right that every photo could have an interesting story to tell. I have loads of them as photography is my passion.

I was a very young child when my paternal grandfather passed away and not to long ago I came into contact with an Uncle and his wife whom I hadn't seen or talked to in a long time because of living so far away. Anyway they sent me some photos they had of my grandfather and some other relatives which I cherish.

I havent had a chance to do anything like that Rosekitty.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, it is not possible.
I am glad that you have done this for your children.
It is precious.

I thought it was 'a picture is worth a 1000 words'? Sorry, I don't have those 1000 words, this is when Phred's comment shop would come in handy. Actually I have a scrapbook made for all 3 of my boys, along with their baby books.

@TexanTornado..yes that is one way to say it but my way was Rod Stewart's song.
I did scrapbooking but wanted my kids to know who their great grandparents looked like and on down..so they are addressed..dated and named..had to use my brain i found at your place..hahah

@Marcyaz Thank you. It was when I was heavy into scrapbooking. I haven't done it in a few years now. It's one of those things, I need to get back to

I had a good collection of photos of my own. At my parents place, Mom has preserved photos of her childhood, my grandparents and even some of their parents. I can go spending almost days browsing through them.
I dont have kids and as such I dont know how today's kids would look at things. I do like your idea of Memory Book and in fact I had one - but burglars stole that.
But one thing for sure. I loved this one -
"What ties a family together? Its not the Blood. Its not having the same last name. Its the memories" - Nick (Willie Nelson) in The Angels Sing.
And definitely, I will try my best to give them the best memories I can.

@Marcyaz I had no idea of that. I had seen the movie "The Angels Sing" and loved that dialog from Willy Nelson, though I also admired him singing in the Movie. Now that you have mentioned that he is the best in Country Music, I am hopping on to youtube to find some more from him. He has a great voice.
Thanks again for this information. I would get back to this place to share my experience.

I don't have a book, just a big box of old photos that my mother went over with me so many times I think I've got it under control. I'm a keeper, my sister is a throw-way-person. That's her loss.

I've always wanted to do something like that but some how never got around to it. Before digital camera's and smart phones I wasn't one to do much picture taking either. It just cost too much for film and developing. Now it's not so hard and I take pictures frequently and regret the years that I lost to be being miserly.
On the other hand, I crochet, and have always specialized in stuffed animals and dolls. So my children had some great toys as they grew up and my son still has his bear that I made him. Now I am recreating all my patterns for my grand kids.

@Rosekitty My mother didn't teach me either, except for how to do rugs out of old rags. That's a craft form that is coming back too. A friend of mine tried to teach me to do a granny square but I couldn't get the hang of it. She finally told me to find a pattern that I thought I would like to make and work from it. She said I might have to tear my stitches back out several times before I got it right but if I kept at it when I was done I would know how to crochet. She was right and I have been teaching myself ever since.

What Happens if do not like pictures? I should rephrase... what happens if you like pictures as long as you are not in them? I guess I could make a scarp book without me in it. .

@Rosekitty Well, you have never seen all the pictures. My mother has tons of pictures and slides. And the evil ex took all the pictures and videos with her. So, to get them it would take me forever. And I have tons of digital pictures as well.

You are right. Unfortunately we will never know what our future is prepari for us. We born, go through this life full of happy or mostly unhappy things, and finally we die. Life is something we will never understand . Life will remain just a star which rises, shines and fades.
