Yes, you read it right, he wants to do it all the time! And I mean ALL THE TIME!
When we do it, it can go for hours! It's rather exhausting and hard on me! Not just physically, but also emotionally!
I've tried telling him no, but that never seems to work! What can I say? The poor guy's addicted! He refuses to take no for an answer!
This old gal can't take much more! Help! Can someone please take over for me and do it with him...even if it's only once in a while?
Be warned though, he'll definitely keep you on your toes! Oh, and boy, does he moan and groan!
So, what in the world am I talking about? My autistic son, of course! He could wear anyone out...the way he likes to be chauffeured around going from store to store all over town!
What the heck did you think I was talking about? Hmm?
(The above discussion, although serious, is just for fun and is aimed at those members that tend to read nothing more than the title. lol)

However hard and tiring it might seem at the time, because he's yours and there is LOVE involved you will never ever say 'enough' I'm sure!

I think you could definitely use some help in taking him out on those long shopping excursions. Does he have a therapist who takes him out? I know they do have those therapists who work with kids outside the offices - play ball with them, take them on walks, etc. And as for the title? I love misleading titles, haha

You are competing with @MysDianaIT here with your double entendre! I like it!
I was just about to drop some pearls of wisdom involving cold showers, wrinkled Lisle stockings and the benefits of chewing raw garlic when I read to the bottom (I have been known to do that, too, with wriggly toddlers at bedtime).
I don't have any first-hand experience of autism, though I have met people who, I'm told, have been diagnosed as such. It's really not a condition which many people know a lot about or understand. In my seasonal work as 'Santa', I meet one or two and I have always found them what I would call 'bright'. My impression is usually that they have an insatiable curiosity and an unconventional way of exercising it and I find that delightful. As 'Santa', I usually only get five or ten minutes to try to have some interaction with a child and I have to say that only a few are total flops. I may get what seems to be a complete 'ignore' or I may find my beard pulled or someone sitting in my chair while my back is turned but they all amuse and entertain me much more than the 'conventional' child.

So this is what I have to look forward to in a few years, huh?
The toddler is already getting pretty vocal with her demands. The other day she grabbed my keys off the table, shoved them into my hand, brought me her shoes and made me help her get them on, brought me my shoes and helped me put them on, then grabbed my hand and dragged me to the door. "Let's go zoo?"
Now how am I supposed to refuse that?!

Autism is a very serious afflication. Your homorous post is a great way to deal with all of the stress and anxiety. I know because I have Cerebral Atrophy-which is kind of like Alzheimer's, rapid cycling Bi-polar disorder and constant and sometimes debilitating headaches. In my experience, writing about it and humor are good coping mechanisms. Just like a saying that I once heard, "if you don't laugh about it, you'll cry".

@sacmom. I try to share humorous and uplifting pieces on MyLot and other social media sites on a regular basis. I posted one example with this comment. I have a Facebook page called "It'sCooltobeKind Campaign", where I try to spread the the idea of kindness with the hope that it will enter the readers minds and that they will commit random acts of kindness.

Is it just riding in the car that he likes, or he actually likes shopping? And what kind of shopping?

I hear you! My daughter isn't autistic, but she is rather hyper and it's emotionally exhausting! It would be nice to get a little help every once in a while.

You naughty girl. I like the way you have written this article. I am sure lots of Mylotters including me got attracted to this discussion just because of the title.

@sacmom writing an attractive title is very important because that's what brings you lots of traffic and make people read an article.
keep up the good work.

Now you know I am going to now spend time scrolling through for that "certain" person who didn't read through and made an unrelated comment.
Seriously, how old is you son now? I think your a great mom to chauffeur him around. What are his favorite stores to visit?

@sacmom Hey, some of my favorite stores as well... Of course I can't stay out that late, not when I have to get up at 5:30 am, which reminds me, you are in Ca and it is what? 4:30 am there? Are you up early or still up?

Dang, someone's got a lot of energy - hee hee! Actually I can imagine how you feel. We recently went to our friend's house for the first time - a birthday party for their middle child who has severe autism (19) and the younger one who has aspergers (13). Most of their guests were friends from the autistic son's social group - with their parents. I saw that many were indeed a handful and had to be supervised much of the time, oh but all were from very loving families. Now you know I read more than just the title!

I have a friend who has also an autistic son, who is 15 now. She says the same thing, she is always worn out from having to tend to him all the time. And to make matters worst, she had to have 2 surgeries for carpal tunnel and a single mom.
