Sitting here, thinking about getting out of the house and suddenly, the sound of a cat throwing up - under me!
I look around and, sure enough, there is a cat, getting ready to barf on the floor.
Well, I have a flattened paper bag right next to her, so I yank her over so most of said barf ends up on the paper bag.
(Why is it that a cat will barf on the most expensive piece of furniture or carpet around, but never on something you can pick up and throw away?)
And cats almost never throw up once, there's always seconds...
I got her to do that on the bag too...
So now, instead of a long bit of barf to clean up, there's only a little dab still on the floor...
Sometimes I wish I could just throw them outside!

I am a cat person, a huge cat lover, so to me the throwing up is just part of being owned by a cat. It does not phase me at all, any more than my daughter throwing up. I generally ask the cat if it is ok and give it some loving and then go about cleaning up the throw up.

I have a little cat rescue, but I really wish they wouldn't come in this room to start with, and at least she wasn't throwing up on a chair or anything. And I won't throw them outside, just sometimes I wish I could... especially when I've had to chase them outside in my night gown! At least clean up this time was picking up the bag and throwing the whole thing away!

I can understand cleaning would certainly be a problem but I would prefer if our pets did that in our presence so that they can be treated.

Cat throw up for various reasons. They have fur balls from grooming - not in this case, or, fairly often, they ate too fast and too much and then the food swells in the stomach and has to go some place, and out the way it came in is the normal way - as it was in this case.

@allknowing That's how I got her over the paper bag, because she was making the noise. Its also how I've saved a bit of grief from other cats by being able to get them off of something before they... produce...

@ElicBxn They normally make a sound before it comes out and may be at that time you can sort it out - just saying.

it is pretty gross when it happens but my main concern is still that the cat is ok

It is a good thing you could get the paper before the cat can throw up,atleast you don't have much to clean. Less work to do for you
