We all need to wind down at some point...

There are so many ways to relax. Some are good for us and some aren't. Bio feedback, yoga, meditation, alcohol, time with family, time away from family, exercise, journaling, food, music, hobbies, noise(tv), or do you have a way that I haven't listed? I write or spend time researching something. Some times music will relax me but other times it revs me up. So how do you relax?

Music is good at changing my mood. If I'm stressed it will usually help the stress go away. I find it hard to focus on other things when I'm really stressed out, it just sort of eats at me for awhile until I can get over it.
As for just unwinding and relaxing... I like to watch TV, or just have a good long conversation, sometimes when it's nice hubby and I will build a fire outside and sit and stare at it all night.

@celticeagle I actually don't really watch TV.. I watch shows on Netflix so I get to choose what I am in the mood for instead of flipping channels to find what is on.
But I don't usually need to relax, what I tend to need is to de-stress. Tight budget, 5 kids, 3 of them teenagers, typical work/marriage/life stresses, I'm usually pretty wound up... so a nice comedy unwinds me fairly well.

@katsmeow1213 You do have a handful. I used to try to raise my granddaughter and hold down a full time job. I ended up having panic attacks and getting sick.

I like watching TV for that too but sometimes something is on that winds me up.

I think that mylot helps me to relax.I can just be myself in here, and I am happy abou that. I just sit back in my easy chair, read discussions, and decide which ones I can give feedback on. This is a great community, and I am proud to be a part of it.

I like that too. Just being myself and starting what I hope are interesting discussions.

@rosekiss I enjoy your discussions. You know about the 'suggest' right?

@celticeagle For me, trying to start interestingdiscussions has been a struggle. I don't think I am doing to bad though, as I am getting responses to them and they are very much alive, so that is a good thing.

I used to do that but my have this haze over them most of the time and it just gets frustrating. I need to get me a Kindle. I love to read just before sleeping. Very relaxing.

@TexanTornado That makes sense. I couldn't really put words to it but I think that is what it did for me too.

@celticeagle I enjoy reading anytime, but yes, I have to read before going to bed. It helps to clear my mind, so I can sleep.

It depends on what kind of mood I'm in, how I decide to relax. I genuinely love reading and writing, so I spend a lot of time just doing that.
I'll read over my favorite novels again, pick up a new book, or go online and write on my blog.
I also thoroughly enjoy having intellectual and insightful conversations with people. I'll spend hours of my time going back and forth over Facebook messages with my friends. We talk about anything from politics to the history of the ancient world, and it definitely sparks food for thought.
Even when you're just laid back and relaxing, I think it's important to always keep working out your mind, you know? Never stop learning, never stop craving knowledge, even when it's time to sit back and relax.

Never stop learning is very important. When we quit doing that we might as well lay down and just die. Insightful conversations are important. Giving our minds new information.

@celticeagle Little known fact: There are actually twice as many people, percentage-wise, reading in the US now than there were fifty years ago. We are making some progress, even though with how technology works today it doesn't seem like it. I don't think we're losing our intelligence as a whole just yet.

@RachelDSims24 Reading is a good start. Actually comprehending what we read is something else. Haha
