One of my favourite authors recently died. His name was Wayne Dyer and he was a spiritual and motivational writer. I have read and re-read many of his books, and I have learned a lot from them. I was very sad when I read about his death because I always hoped that I would be able to meet him one day. That is not going to happen, but I will continue to read his books and watch his videos. I also think that it could be interesting to meet Hans Christian Andersen. I enjoyed his fairy tales as a child, and I have heard that he had an interesting and eccentric personality. It could be interesting to talk to him and find out what kind of person he was.

If I could understand the kind of English Shakespeare used, I might have cited my interests in meeting him. But that is not possible. I would love meeting Tolstoy and GB Shaw. I havent read too much from GBShaw but we had a few of his articles in our school curriculum. I would love to get some tips on how to express views in such small and precise pieces of text from him.

Yes, Shakespeare would be hard to understand. I know who Tolstoy and GB Shaw are, but I haven't the read the books they have written. Did you read Tolstoy at school? Or in your free time? In my school we read many short stories and novels by Danish authors, but we weren't introduced to many international authors aside from Shakespeare.

@Porcospino The first of course was at school. A small story - How much Land does a Man need. Then during late 1980s, there was a serial on Indian Television that had stories adapted from different writers from across the world. It was here that I watched some more from him, O Henry, Shakespeare and many others.

As a spiritual/motivational person I would want to meet Joyce Meyer. I used to watch her all the time and have read a couple of her books. As far as novelists go, meeting Joy Fielding is actually on my bucket list.

I think I would have to say Shirley MacClaine. I lover her books and her writing style. She wrties her truth as seen and felt through her eyes and her heart. She has lived a very interesting life and I am sure she has tons of stories to tell. Mostly though, I love her fearlessness at being herself and following her truth no matter what anyone, Including Hollywood has to say about it. I think having a conversation with her would be an absolute hoot.

@Marcyaz Yea, I know she is an actress and dancer and all around performer but for me it has been her books that have touched me and taught me so much. When I think of her, I think author first.

I have seen some of her books at my local library, but I haven't read them. She has written many books, and I don't think that all of them have been translated to Danish. Have you read all of her books? Which of them do you like the most?

Enid Blyton, because I grew up reading her books. J.K Rowling, not because I'm a Harry Potter fan but because her life story, especially how she became a world-renowned author is so inspiring. Dan Brown, because I admire his writing style.

I remember Enid Blyton's books I loved them when I was a child, but I don't know much about the author. I have read about J.K. Rowling's life story, and I also find it inspiring. It happened in her case, and maybe other people will be able to do the same. I don't really know Dan Brown. I haven't read any of his books.

@Porcospino That was what I thought when I read about J.K Rowling. It's really a great motivation for aspiring authors. Oh, you should read Dan Brown's, they're good (if you like that kind of genre, that is).

I have been very fortunate to be able to meet quite a few of the writers I've admired. Anne McCaffrey, Robert J. Sawyer, Mercedes Lackey, Jasper Fforde, P.N.Elrod... So, okay, I like science fiction... I'd've like to have met Lilian Jackson Braun, Tony Hillermann and Janet Evanovich. McCaffrey, Braun and Hillermann have all passed on now.

I am happy to hear that you also love Hans Christian Andersen. He has written a lot of fairy tales. Some of them are famous and some of them are less wellknown. My brother has a book that contains all of his fairy tales. Yes, I don't know many Indian authors. There are only two names that I remember: Rabindranath Tagore and Vikram Seth (I read "A suitable boy" many years ago)

@else34 I didn't know that Vikram Seth writes in English. I thought that the book that I read was an English translation not the original book. The books by Kenneth Anderson and Jim Corbett sound interesting.
