Saturday night about 7p. police responded to a call of gunshots at a house in my part of town. (More down town that out at my end of the main street.) I didn't hear anything and am just hearing about it on the news. A guy shot at a woman and she is in the hospital. The police were able to apprehend the guy in another part of town a little later. Boy!

It happens here allllllll the time... and half the time the cops forget to show up. *shrug* No one cares about the lowest parts of our city.

Simply outrageous. There should be no difference.

@TLChimes Makes a lot of sense. Stereotypical justification is sick. It happens all the time and is so inhumane.

@celticeagle You're right. The thing is, that people who live here are good people, and some are desperate.... and some are just plain crooks. I think treating the whole of a class (the poor) or an area (ours isn't as populated as other areas and is run down but tons of people have started food and community gardens on the empty lots.) as something unworthy of time, energy, and services... just keeps people poor, desperate, and creates crooks. I really think that a lot of things could change if people just treated everyone as people until there is a just reason not to... (a murderer is still a murderer not a "human" in the way that I mean it, if that makes sense)

I do the same. I go to get groceries and that is about it. I don't like people much anymore.

That is so true. All we can do is take care of our little circle of the world.

I've never been so close to an incident like that, I think it's because this kind of violence is very rare in my country. I hope that woman will be fine and everything will become clear soon.

Bad that it happened but at least it seems the police were on top of it and caught the guy. Best wishes to the victim for a speedy recovery.

When things like that are going on it seems that you begin to not feel very safe. It may have been a personal thing, but who knows what those crazies will do if they are angry enough.
