Usefulness of 'suggest' option.

I find the 'suggest' option a very useful option. I could always 'suggest' my own posts and I do suggest my posts to my followers. What I found interesting about 'suggest' option is that a friend here on mylot could suggest me another user's post (who may or may not be my follower or whom I've not been following). I wish to thank all dear friends here who suggest me posts not only started by them but started by any other users. I try my best to respond to posts suggested to me. Probably they draw my attention to a particular post because (a) they feel that post matches my interests; (b) they feel that I can contribute something on the post; and (c) they wish to know my views on that particular post. Does your friends here on mylot suggest you discussions started by other users, besides their own posts (in case you are following them)?

I am not ok with it. I mean, I want to see where I can see new discussions of the day or something like that.

Suggest option is really good feature in mylot. It could boost any discussion thread that interesting to gain more responds and it's also promote your post to people with same interests. Do you use this feature often, @dpk262006

@redvakaurvaki- I suggest my posts (and some other posts) to my followers, so that they could come and respond to my discussions. If I suggest, they get a notification and quickly and directly go to the discussion, else they might miss it.

Another way I have used it is to send it to former followers to "wake them up"

Yeah, it is a bright idea to wake up some old mylotters. I tried doing it but it seems either all are too busy or they do not check their emails at all.

Yes, I do receive suggestions by people about their own discussions, and also about discussions others think I may be interested in.

Yes, my friends who follow me on here always suggest stuff to me, whether it's written by them or someone else. I don't mind it, because it's simply a suggestion, you don't have to read all or even any of them if you don't want to.

I am not a big fan of suggestion.. I do not suggest nor do I like people suggesting every post they write,. I am okay with people suggesting others posts which are really worth reading.

Yes, if any of the friend suggest other posts which are worth reading/commenting, then there is nothing wrong in checking the post, provided we have time.

I just found that recently too. It is nice to have that cross help as it were. I have had this happen a couple of times. I haven't used it myself though.

I am 50/50 about this because I normally used to make it a point to respond to all such discussions and found that many of them never commented back and just liked , so now I am choosy and go only by the previous track record...I have decided not to respond after a member has ignored my response more than twice ..

Yes, you are right that those who suggest and do not post comments on our responses should not be given a second chance. You and me discussed this point earlier also that there are some users who suggest their posts to us and then do not bother to check our responses.

I don't suggest any discussions, but I do use it to see what suggestions are sent to me, as I wouldn't see them otherwise. That alone, makes it a good feature to have, I do believe.

Your discussions are interesting and easy to respond and concern day to day life, that is one of the main reasons that you get so many responses.

I can't get my suggestions to work. I have 840 followers. Most have taken a vacation on some remote island in the pacific without internet access I think.

I think majority of them would be 'friends' in the older version of mylot which are now called followers. As there was a gap of 2 years, it is possible that all have gone on vacation to Atlantic Ocean or may be to Arctic ocean or may be in Sahara Desert and there they cannot find internet and cannot connect with us.

@dpk262006 It also means that I can't use suggestions because I can't see any way I can get them to un-follow me unless I do a search in the Pacific- Atlantic - Arctic - Sahara to find them.

@Bluedoll - Yes, true what you have stated. I am also wondering how to 'delete' inactive followers (who were 'friends' in previous version of mylot). You cannot go to Pacific or Atlantic oceans just to search them and make them 'un-follow you, it will not be worth spending your precious time on such searches.

Yes, suggested posts give us an option to choose and respond to posts of our choice and we could quickly reach the link given in the notification. I always welcome suggested posts, however, sometimes due to time constraints, I cannot respond to all the suggested posts.
