Nowadays, within my friend circle and at have even heard from many people that nowadays people dont like to eat non-veg food. Same way, I too have noticed many people who were die hard fan of non-vegetarian dishes/food prefer to eat pure vegetarian food.
So, whats your take on this ?

It's good to be a vegetarian! Expect for a strong and healthy life.

@ashuli Exactly. I went completely vegetarian a couple of times in my life for various reasons - but didn't know enough about what to eat and in what combinations to get everything your body needs. Thankfully, my body usually tells me what it needs. For example, I craved oranges and tomatoes, which I ate in abundance and then realised I had been low on Vitamin C

I am not a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. I know several people who are and they are the most unhealthy looking people I know.

Really? They must be eating unhealthy vegetarian food then! The important thing is that the diet should be well balanced, whether veg or non veg

@Shyamalaa They are really into that food so I'm sure they 'think' they are healthy

@abbygreenhill The vegetarians you know must have other issues. There are tons of medical studies and stats to show that vegetarians live longer, age slower and have less diseases. I am a vegan and am constantly told that I look 25 years younger. I think the vegetarians you know must be cheating.

I have to eat non-veg for at least once in two days, otherwise I'll faint
Jokes apart, I guess veg is getting trendy these days as it's a healthy source of food and possibly full of starch and energy as the plant is still alive in some form. Same cannot be said for meat.

Sorry! As a Bengali I can't afford to be a vegetarian! In that case, I would lose by identity! I am a strict non-vegetarian and like to have fish at least twice.

I'm an eggetarian. I eat veg and only eggs as an exception for their good protein content. Well you are what you eat! vegetarian people are expected to not suffer from flu or other meat related diseases which are quite bad compared to vegetarian food. Mostly, i just don't like the concept of killing animals.
Like George Bernard Shaw said- "Animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends "

@ashuli Well i too used to be, but then i realized that eggs carry the most power packed punch of nutrition of all the foods, so i said to myself- why not ? Try it yourself! Maybe you'll start to love em like me

I've heard (and possibly experienced, although THAT might be 'all in my head') that meat is heavy in your blood (or something ... bad for blood-pressure ). But by the same token it 'keeps your heart strong' and is high in protein.
Searching for balance-between, I eat one 'vegetarian' meal & one 'non-veg' meal a day.

Vegetarians are healthy. I am hypertensive. I have been with this for years. I am not vegetarian. Pork is my favorite. But when my creatinine level went high, I refrained from eating pork and other meat. Then after a week, I had my creatinine checked, it goes down. I realized that eating meat so much makes everything in us high. I now prefer fish and a little vegetables.

I am not vegetarian but am one of those people who prefers vegetables to meat. I cook meat for my son and I will have a small piece and fill my plate with vegetables. Roasted pumpkin is one of my very favourite things. Meat-wise, I tend to only eat chicken or, very rarely, when I have a craving, a piece of steak but I could quite easily live on vegetables, the exception being that I could not live without bacon

@ashuli I think I am just lucky. Most things I like are healthy, without me consciously eating them for their nutritional value. I naturally have a savoury tooth not a sweet tooth so it is rare for me to eat lollies, chocolate or ice cream - but I'll devour a bag of salted cashews or a bacon sandwich
