It is just like saying women cry and men don't. They cry when others are not looking

@mkrnex Why should it be awkward. Cry away your blues. It is good for one's health.

@allknowing Hey, its a stereotype built by elders too. If they see a guy crying they say hey guys shouldn't cry etc etc.

That is right. I cry when no body is there as crying in front of all is a hit to man ego. And it looks awkward when men cry too. Like our daily soaps bahus who just cry,cry and cry!

I don't like chocolates as much as other girls do. I have seen girls going crazy about chocolates. Probably I am an exception! :-P

@anushreem Ya, its really funny. One query to you, do you expect chocolate from your boyfriend or husband or loved one on valentines day? Will you get disappointed if you not get one?

Ya, men too love it. But women go crazy over it. That is they treat chocolates a level above love. For valentines day or any important romantic personal event they must want chocolates. While for men it is not a necessary one.!

I must be one of the stereo types ,cuz I sure do love chocolate candies for gifts! Chocolate cake chocolate pie, hot chocolate, practically anything chocolate and yet I do not really buy chocolate for myself.

I have seen it. Most of the girls don't buy chocolates they just get it through treats, gifts, birthday present etc. They love it yet don't want to buy it. I really couldn't understand this till now. Can you throw some light to this matter! I would love to know the reason behind it

@Fleura I must say I am really surprised. Till now I thought girls have a definite weakness against chocolates. But after the responses here I think the product companies just used it to hype their products so that people will buy it. Similar example is some perfume companies like Axe which shows if we apply it , the women will be attracted towards us like magnets.
But I have seen all my friends(girls) craving for chocolates and demanding chocolates for treat while boys just demand some lunch treat or gift.!

@mkrnex as has been said by others, I think it's good marketing and also as @tashauphill mentioned, many women seem to be always dieting (unsuccessfully!) and so they probably feel deprived and so find it hard to resist temptation if someone offers them chocolate!

I think what women feel about chocolate has the same variety as what men feel. Some women love it, like it, tolerate it, or hate it. The same with flowers. I appreciate planted flowers from afar but as a gift I don't really care for them.
I view the whole "all women love chocolate, expensive jewelry, and flowers" idea as commercial propaganda that has been drilled into women's (and men's) heads for decades. Some people buy into it. I don't.
Just think of the "preset expectations " for valentines days. According to the media, if a woman doesn't get chocolates, flowers, and jewelry, she's gonna feel under appreciated... Or get pissed off. Smh

@mkrnex you're absolutely right. It's a stereotype perpetuated by the commercial industry. It's all about profits and convincing people that their love is measured by the amount of money they spend on their mate.

@SandyElise Ya, if the guys don't do the above mentioned things then they are rejected ruthlessly on the notion that the guy is a dumb with no manners and common sense how to treat a girl. Really? Whom does the girl really love? The person or the "Chocolate"! I think at that moment the guy should say please marry the chocolate miss!!
But there are dumb ones who follow these stereotypes. It has become like a corruption where till there are corruption provider the corruption taker will remain. So till the boys strictly stop this the girls will expect every time, everyone.

I think the love for chocolate is by both sexes. The rich sweetness is perfect for the taste buds.

Ya, what you said is right. But majority of girls crave for chocolates but that is not in the boys case. The level of craziness differs. You can literally make a girl do anything like assignments etc with a chocolate. Isn't it awesome?

@mkrnex NO I ask to my friends not to bring us chocolate, I like a small piece time by time, but I prefer to buy what I like when I want it. I had to make a chocolate cake last week because I had chocolate leftover in the house and the expiration day was approaching.

@LadyDuck But unfortunately girls in my place go mad over chocolate. My classmates were dying literally begging for a dairy milk chocolate as a treat. This kind of behavior will surely put false or stereotyped notion in boys minds! Isn't it?

Because like chocolates girls are too special for boys and boys like the girl to feel that the girls is very special for him.

@intal_carl More than that I think Girls like chocolates and they swoon over it so we give chocolates rather than involuntarily giving chocolates!

It is just a stereotype. Nothing is special than genuine feelings. How can Chocolate be more special than genuine love!

@mkrnex The true meaning of what I say is that we love the girls so much that's why we give them chocolates to let them feel how special they are in our life.

It is the way boys think about girls, not necessarily true. We always have a stock of five star chocolates at home because my husband likes them for dessert every night!
