Pets On Furniture?

Do you allow your pets on your furniture? I allow my dog to lay on my bed but I don't allow her on my living room furniture. I know some allow their pets on everything they own but others won't even let their dog enter their house (keeping them out in the yard all the time). Some consider it a matter of cleanliness and good hygiene. Where do you stand on this issue?

I don't mind animals on my couch or living room furniture, but I don't let them in the bedroom or kitchen.

The bedroom is where my dog and I mostly hang out. But the living room is off limits as far as getting on the furniture.

We have guinea pigs and we let them play on the floor now and again, but I don't let them on the furniture.

Do they usually have to be in a cage?

I keep my pets on the yard, most of the day, if the weather is fine, I think they like it most, barking to cars and people all day long. But, when they are in the house, the are with me, I don't mind much of the furniture, with a good vacuum cleaning every couple of days is ok.

@SandyElise My yard looks to the streets, separated only by a fence, so, they have a great time, barking to cars and people passing by all day. It may be annoying sometimes. . I know what you mean, dogs hate to be alone, they just love to hang around with people.

My dog likes to hang out outside, but only if someone is out there with her. She's clingy that way.

I don't have pets at my house but back at my parents' house we have a cat that we let inside the house. We hardly allow her to go in the bedrooms though. Living room is okay.

@SandyElise Just a family preference.

Is it because the cat will climb on your furniture or just a family preference?

My dog is an indoor dog, except to talk a walk with me, or to go out and poop. I wash her all the time, she is clean, she sits on her bed, or one couch. We don't mind where she sits. I don't keep a pet just outdoors. We have indoor cats that are strictly indoor never go out, they sit on their cat perch, that is what they like.

That's how my dog is as far as being indoors. In fact, if she hangs out in my backyard, I have to be with her to avoid her barking at the back door cuz she's lonely. How often do you wash her? I've heard such conflicting rules when it comes to how often you should wash a dog.

@SandyElise , I was her once a month, reason is she has bad allergiers, and will bite her feet, and one leg. She was attacked by a dog one year, this one leg never healed right. Being she is 16, I like to wash her with organic soap. Some people say do it once every two months. Our vet said every 2 weeks when her allergies flair up. I do it once a month

My cat sleeps on our bed at night and on the living room furniture. I have covers that I can take right off and wash.

I need to invest in some covers so my dog can at least get on my couches in the den. My dog can't sleep with me because she hogs the bed and I end up sleeping in a cramped corner all night. But I allow her to sleep on my bed during the day.

For some reason my dog can get on my bed, but if she ever tried to lay on my pillow I'd freak out. It makes no sense I know. :-)

I don't have any pets at home. But I'd probably let them if they were here.

hi sandy!.good to hear about ur unconditional love towards the pets.even had 2 poms.as long as we maintain hygeine its good but sometimes we feel lazy or fed up of cleaning furnitures.pets urine smell doesnot go easily from furnitures.we cant wash furnitures fully to make it 100%neat and clean.it can lead to harmful bacteria and virus growth which multiply faster.it can prove dangerous to kids and older people also.even some people get the allergies because of this.we should try to keep the pets outside the house.bring them inside but for shorter durations.

Yeah, I don't allow my dog on furniture company might use. They might have a problem sitting in any dander my dog has. And it's a lot easier to vacuum the floor where she lays than nooks and crannies in the couch
