Have You Ever Slept Well in a Waterbed?

You don't hear much about waterbeds these days though I imagine some people still sleep in them. They were pretty trendy in the 70's and 80's and it seems everyone was getting one. Including me. I hated that thing. I didn't like sloshing around, the sound of a bathtub in my ear. I could never get comfortable and worried my cat's claw would puncture it somehow and I would drown. Nope - not for me. I'm very happy with a regular mattress and box spring. Have you ever slept in a water bed? Do you like them?

OMG, I haven't even thought of waterbeds in years. I've never slept in one but I remember a whole bunch of us bein asked what we thought of this guys waterbed so we were allowed to sit on the thing and what I didn't like was that it kept moving around, I couldn't sleep like that. I also have a kitty so I'd worry about punctures.

I always felt like I was ready to fall out of the bed.

Yikes @suziecat7 I'd hate that feeling. I'm glad I never bought one.

I've never tried one, but I always thought that they would be really comfortable. So you've disproved that

It was for me but Ann LeFlore (below) loves hers. So I guess it's a matter of preference.

Another waterbed lover. There are a few of you around. Did you have a flood when the animals clawed through? Even worse, were you in bed? :))

@suziecat7 hahah no i knew it didn't create a water mess like that..it just got low in water..so out came the hose to drain and then throw or patch up the mattress depending how bad it was..

I have been on them, but never slept on them. I didn't like them too much. The idea was kind of awesome, but the downsides were many.

The idea caught on too. Waterbed salesmen were everywhere going door to door.

@suziecat7 My uncle had one, but he went back to the traditional mattress. I don't know many that use them today.

I can't imagine what it would feel like without enough water in it. Lumpy maybe :))

@suziecat7 I imagine you would sink into it if it wasn't filled right and the sides might envelope you. Maybe that's where my friend disappeared to - I haven't seen her in a while.

My husband and I also had one back in the 80's. At first I didn't want it but I ended up loving it until I got older. We had 2 sets of drawers under it so it was very high and as the years went on, I couldn't get out of it. We now have a temper pedic and it is the greatest thing in the world. I actually sleep all night now where before getting it and sleeping in a regular bed, I could not get comfortable. I can now adjust the angle of the mattress, both head and feet and it is so great.

I've heard those beds were good. I do remember water beds being high off the ground too.

I do not even knew if water beds are popular anymore. We just have a regular bed and we are happy with that.

Waterbeds have never been popular in the countries where I lived. I have never tried one.

I used to like waterbeds when I was a kid. I haven't slept on a waterbed for many, many years but I don't think I'd sleep well on one.

Well, they aren't around much these days so that's probably why. Everyone should try it once though.

I have. It was kind of cool. I'm not sure if my tired back would like it or not. My waterbed experience was more than ten years ago.

OH God yes! I love my waterbed. I got my first waterbed when I was 13. Since this time I have had one ever since. However, when I was working around the different places I was stationed it it was hard to take a waterbed with you so I had an air bed instead. Same thing almost. But I love my water bed and especially love sleeping on a boat in the water.

My husband and I had one in the 70's. However, he is much larger than me and it did cause me to slosh around a lot. We eventually got rid of it.

Ha - sort of like a seesaw. His larger size would have you bouncing every time he moved. Too funny.
