I Cannot Sleep In

I read from some people that they take a day and sleep in late. I was up at 6 this morning, and that was late for me. We get up at 5 on work days. My husband is still asleep two hours later than I got up. Me, I got 71/2 hours of sleep and I am completely done. Maybe as winter gets here I will hibernate more. Good Sunday morning my friends.

I can't sleep in too late as I have a puppy that has to go potty first thing in the morning. But, I don't work so I can always take a nap during the day if needed.

@RasmaSandra Most days six hours is what I get. With nap in the afternoon.

I might nap, if I need to. No puppies here. The kitty will watch us sleep.

@GardenGerty My sleep has become pretty hectic. I get inspired and work late on the PC and sometimes after just about six hours sleep I'm up again and then wind up taking afternoon naps.

Sundays have always been my day to sleep. Now that soccer is over I'll be able to sleep a little on Saturdays too, but not much as the kids still have band shows for the next couple weeks, then they get a break from shows but the winter programs start and their shows will start in January along with basketball for the little boys.

You have plenty of things to keep you busy with all the kid activities. I just have me and hubby and the cat.

I'd like to sleep in or a while on weekend while I always go bed late to midnight.

If you stay up that late you probably need to sleep in some on the weekends.

Sleep experts say that it's really bad to vary your get up time. I usually get up at the same time each day, unless I am sick or really, really tired.

General consensus is to not vary more than an hour, so I guess that is what I do. I need to go to bed earlier, though.

This is an easy day for us. We are doing things we want to do. Lunch was an easy one dish meal.

@GardenGerty I usually think ahead on Saturday and make enough food for the Sunday meal. Yesterday we had meat patties and today we had meat balls (a smaller version of the same thing and cooked the same time). All I had to do was make a salad and warm up the meatballs.

@41CombedaleRoad When we have the kitchen set up right that will probably be our practice. No running out to eat in this little town.

With my insomnia, I have a tendency of sleeping in sometimes, but lately I've been trying to not do ot.

It is kind of a vicious cycle of sleeping extra then being awake.

I generally can't sleep in, either. In fact, I can't wait to get out of bed sometimes. It runs for about two weeks, then I am back to normal sleeping patterns. I figure it's because of changes at my age, so I just take it in stride.

I know that sometimes I need more sleep. It will go for a while then I am fine. On those days I am likely to nap if I do not stay in bed a little longer.

Colder weather does make for longer, snuggier sleep. I say don't fight it, your body knows when it needs more sleep or when it's fine the way it's used to.

I had a day or two where I went back to sleep after seeing hubby off. I am doing lots of physical work still, so I sleep pretty soundly.

We are retired and I can't sleep beyond 5:00 or 5:30 am. I was always like that.

I believe that is pretty common. I am not sure what my actual pattern would be. I have really dark curtains in the bedroom, otherwise I would wake up with the light.

I don't get to ever sleep in, it never happens, I am used to waking up early, plus there is a lot of noise from outside that keeps me awake.

If you live in a noisy area it can be hard on your sleep patterns.

I get up at 445 on work days, way way too early. I didn't get to sleep in today, work day, but will be doing so tomorrow!

I would not be getting up at 5 if hubby did not need me to be his alarm clock.

Well...if I stay up most of the night and get awakened early, I sit down and fall asleep whether I want to or not, later in the day. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy a few years ago, so my body decides for my brain. I have been known to fall asleep playing a game on the computer or watching television a time or two, sometimes shortly after I had a good sleep. I lost my job 4 years ago due to narcolepsy, so I try to work jobs that are just a few hours at a time so as to not ruffle anybody's feathers and fall asleep on the job.

I have never been that way. I think we do have some natural sleep patterns that we should follow when we are able.

My husband seems to need more sleep than I do. He may take a nap if he finishes work early which is not often.

I haven't been able to sleep in since my 30's, I'm afraid that those days are long behind me now. It isn't so bad now that I have come to realize that the early morning is a very beautiful time of the day. I can watch the sun rise, enjoy those first couple of cups of coffee alone with my thoughts, hopes and plans for the day, and I can get ahead on my work to do online. I do like to wake without an alarm, and do that on my days off, it is a more restful sleep.

I love the morning, but do not really seem to stay out of the way of hubby. Once he leaves I get to do whatever my plans are.
