Does anyone on MyLot enjoy hiking? If so, what are your favorite hiking areas and how often do you go hiking? My son and I love to hike and the Santa Catalina and Tucson Mountains that surround Tucson, Arizona where we live. We try to get out to hike about once a month during the cooler winter months.

I hike all over southern California. But, I mostly hike in the Anza-Borrego Desert. Check out my Squidoo Page:www.squidoo.com/anzaborrego

One of my work colleagues initiated me to that hobby and now I think this is one of my passions. Until now, we have gone to Glen, Sutton and Orford mountains, not that far from where I live now (Province of Quebec). During these three activities, I have taken many beautiful pictures especially becasue it was during autumn. Winter is coming soon so we will have a different scenery!

I have many fond memories of cross country skiing in the Canadian Ski Maratheon in the mountains of Western Quebec. That was beautiful countryside - but I only saw it in the winter. It would be nice to hike that area in the fall but the route we skied on was all across private property and only open to the public for the maratheon. Thanks for your comment.

Yes, I love to hike. One of my favorites was in El Bosque Spain. You hiked up a mountain from El Bosque, along a river to another little town called Bennemahona. I think I spelled that right if not its close. At the top they had a little place where you could buy tappas and something to drink.

Cool... I have a sister who used to live in Tucson and we sometimes went to the Sangre de Christo mountains. It's a beautiful area there. The White Mountains in New Hampshire are great, and I've hiked in various areas in NJ/NY.

My husband and I hiked a part of the trail in Vermont. It was great. And where we staked out our tent in the night must have been near a moose crossing because one passed near our tent.

I enjoy hiking and taking my camera with me to take pictures. When we visit a National park we try to go on as many of the hiking trails 1-3 miles long. It is amazing that people will sit for over an hour to wait for Olf Faithful to erupt and miss the short walk to see some of the small hot springs and smaller guyser pools. People who drive by something and think they have seen it all. Getting out of the car and walking around lets you get the true flavor of the area plus it is good exercise.
