Would you stay back to work 2 hours overtime with no extra pay and no transport allowance?

I may have to stay back in the office for 2 hours or more tomorrow just to clear the work.
There is no extra pay for overtime, and no allowance for staying, not even transport allowance for me to take a cab home.
Working for free is very demoralizing.
I do not even have the prospect of having great bonus, because i am just a temporary worker.

ouch, in america the only way they could get away with that is if you were salaried, otherwise they want you to work they have to pay

Over here, most people are salaried.
This is the way they get away with many things.
Even if the hourly rate is just $5 per hour, they will give you monthly salary instead of hourly rate.
When you take unpaid leaves, they will deduct the money from your salary.

I would only agree to stay overtime for work for more than 2 hours if there is an overtime pay. If it is just one hour or less, I would not mind even if there is no pay but only if it is really needed and it is not frequent. Sometimes we need to sacrifice a bit for work but if happens usually, then i will not agree to it as well. Good thing that overtime pay is mandatory for us :)

Lucky you! Over here, overtime is not mandatory for many people.
The law covers only the low income earners but most people are in the middle income, so they are not covered by the law.
I think there is a need to force companies to pay overtime or give time off.

@scheng1 yes i think it is just fair to give employees regardless of their income level, their fair due. if they render more hours at work, then they should be paid for it or at least give them extra time off to offset the extra hours.
