Now ready to suggest some excellent posts here in myLot

So, another decision has been made about the suggestion feature of myLot. I recognize that it will affect the behavior of this site. Today I received only one suggestion or referral to read a post. And it was that post of @goaskalice about the changes in the suggestion feature. The discussions and sometimes heated debate about suggestions interest me. It shows me that myLot is alive and fueled by emotions. That's a good sign. When people interact, discuss, share ideas, and express their opinion it promotes openness. And sometimes, it's just what we need: to be open. Now I will start suggesting those posts that I find interesting. I will use one important guideline: I will only suggest those that I think others will find of value or worth the time of another myLotter. Thanks myLot for making me use my freedom and the opportunity to promote others.

That is how it was meant to be but that facility was misused. There were two here who only sent me their posts and never once took interest in my posts.

since mylot doesn't have a dedicated section for announcements, updates, etc, no pop-ups or banners that show up when you log in, we can help spread the word so other members are also informed about them.

I believe in interacting and not suggestions, I have gone to many suggestions, and had something to say, sadly they have decided that is where the interaction ends, so now I will rarely pay attention to suggestions. But, it is good it is being used the right way.

I have learned something about myLot through the suggestions. I guess it depends on the kind of posts. I also try to respond as often as I can and participate in discussions.

The suggest feature is one of the buttons in the response, like etc. at the bottom right of any post. You can't suggest your own discussions but you may suggest those you like. Hope this helps.

@Beatburn Yes, but how do you suggest it to someone? Do you need to know a person's username or does it go out to all your followers?

I thought only older discussions can still be suggested? So that's why I've been seeing suggestions because we can only suggest other people's discussions.

I shall take a look t in the suggestion box now, I mostly ignored it because it was so long and the suggestions I did follow up were of little interest to me.

That's kind of you not to assume I'd like to suggest though that there might be information that is relevant to all like myLot updates and user guidelines or reminders. Those I suggest.

In my opinion it was a wise decision. We were supposed to suggest interesting discussions, but many of us only suggested "ALL" their discussions, no matter if they were interesting or not.

It hurt to read a long list suggested by just one myLotter. Now people will have to write something of interest before it is suggested. Unless people start to agree or encourage each other to do it.

I never used the suggest button when we could suggest our own posts, @Beatburn , but I have now used the suggest feature three times since mine was fixed by Alex a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping people are enjoying the discussions I suggested to them!?

I use it sparingly though I recall having suggested some discussions to you. I choose those discussions that are very interesting or at least, worth noticing, to give the myLotter that added boost. Suggest some more @DaddyEvil

@Beatburn I try to find interesting ones I think others will like. Unfortunately, I can't control what the person does who authored the discussion. I do try to go through the discussion later and comment to each person who commented on it, so they at least have my acknowledgement and a kind of thank you (without saying it, of course) for going to see the thread I suggested. I hope that is good enough for everyone... IDK what more I could do, though.

This is the very purpose of that suggestion button. I suggest only interesting/important discussion to people. I have done this only once so far.. that was goaskalice's post.

I still have 10 suggestions that I've yet to check. Been away for a few days and have to catch up with the rest of my notifications first before getting into the suggestions. I'll do the same as you do if I find posts I think are worth sharing.
