Many cultures believe that marriages are made in heaven.
I think many people in all parts of the world believe in this concept too.
That is why they are searching for the "soul mate", the one that is meant for them.
Do you believe in this concept too?

If marriages were made in heaven then heaven is doing a poor job. No, I don't believe in that theory. It's a choice we make and things go as they go, sometimes well and sometimes not. There are no guarantees.

@scheng1 Sorry, I don't see that viewpoint at all. There are many people that pray and still things don't work out. I believe in free will and that continues till the day we die. All the best!

The saying is that God has the perfect person for everyone of us, but many people do not seek advice before their marriages.
Think of how many marriages break up within a year because both parties refuse to heed advice.
If they had prayed for wisdom before they got married, there would be signs to tell them that they should wait, or that the person they loved is not the right one.

@scheng1 So, then why did they get married at all if God did not intend it!! Something must have stopped them!! But no!! And if it is God's responsibility to take care of such things, don't you think these cases would have stopped a long time ago!!

That is why people believe that marriages are made in heaven.
If you are meant to get married at 35 to your perfect soulmate, and you get married when you are 23, you will get divorce a few years later.
The elders will say that you force the hands of God when He knows you are not ready.

@scheng1 If elders say God's hands were forced, then what forced him to break it up!! And I am sure most of these elders would have celebrated the marriage too!! Why??

I believe in atraction to begin with. Then, there are lots of factors that make a marriage solid. Respect, patience and tolerance are omportant parts of love.
If you add luck, I´d say that it can work. Maybe the "luck" part is what some people call made in heaven.

I see quite a few marriages that seem to have been forged in Hell

The original intention is that God knows best, so people should pray and wait for God to guide them to the right one.
Now, many people just get married despite the fact that all their friends and relatives warn them against the marriage.
I think they make their own hell.

Yes, marriage makes us like in heaven if our marriage is harmony, but marriage make us in hell if it is not harmony. But make it a marriage like in heaven is not an easy work, we must patient and patient with our partner. Because it is not easy sailing boat that has two captain. There are much sacrifice to get a happy marriage.

No. I am an atheist. I sincerely believe that a relationship is a combination of physical attraction, hormones, perseverance and commitment. I think after the initial phase of a relationship it becomes more about investment. You couldn't start all over after investing so much time and energy into someone.

I think that marriages are made on earth and it takes two determined people to make it work. If people are looking for a soul mate they are bound for disaster.

Oh Hell no!! I have seen cases which illustrate that marriages are made because of money, greed and lust!! If God is really a good guy, I don't think he will authorize such a thing in Heaven!!

marriage started in the Garden of Eden. God started it when He marry Adam and Eve. Marriage can be called from heaven if the marriage people are happy in the relationship. They are soulmate. They understand each other.
