9 Years of MyLotting

It was on 25 October 2006 that I joined MyLot. I had been very active on Yahoo Answers and had made a number of friends there, including a Pirate, a Fish, a Fairy and a Crocodile. It was the Pirate who invited me to look at another forum, quite like Yahoo Answers but which paid MONEY for doing what I already enjoyed doing on Answers!
Wow! I said, and with some trepidation (I remember), signed up to the new site, chose a username and started to explore. It seems that I took some time just exploring because the first response I made was to a piece of very sound advice from @littlefransiscan: who said: "If you want to earn here you can't be selfish ..you need to help others..when you are unable to think of topics jump into someone else's you earn all the same!!". That was good advice at the time (and it's still pretty good advice today, though the earnings algorithm is quite different now).
On the same day (27 October) I posted my first discussion. It got 26 responses, which was much more than the subsequent ones got for quite a while.
Since then I have responded to nearly fourteen and a half thousand discussions (scrolling through them took me about half an hour!). Some of the commonest questions I seem to have answered were to do with earnings ("How much can I make here?" and "How can I increase my earnings?" &c.)
If you've been an active member of a site for as long as this, what do you remember about your first days there?

My membership is also 9 years old, although I am uncertain as to which precise date I joined up.
I can remember my early days quite well because Mylot was the first such site that I had ever used. After taking great care to read the rules, I spent a couple of weeks browsing around the site and responding to a few posts.
I was reluctant to submit any material until I became more accustomed to what would be considered appropriate here. This was time well spent because it made me very much at ease here and allowed me to enjoy the site from then onwards.

A very useful discussion : the birthday of my brother is on October 27th and I totally forgot it.
This said, happy anniversary. I don't remember what it was about, but I remember that you impressed me with the first comment I received from you. It was together humorous and cultured, and I have always appreciated the personal touch you are giving to your responses.

Too bad you cannot also forget you have a brother as easily as you forget his birthday!

@purplealabaster Lol, I am in a period of diplomatic normalization, so I should better not forget his birthday.

I don´t even remember how I came here. As we tend to remember more the bad things, I do remember when and why I left mylot.
I made then quite a lot of friends. I even had a mylot friend at home with her 2 children for a few days in a visit to Chile.
And I´m SO glad to be back!

I haven't been active here for as long as you, but I have been here for a year or three. I remember some of the first interactions I had on here. I saw people having fun and tried to join in with varying degrees of success. Mike took me under his wing and gave me a few pointers, one of which was to change from the green outline dude to a real picture that would represent me well. After that, and with a little help from Mike, I had a lot more success in my interactions.

@Unforgettable_Raja I have actually been here for over six years. It was not Lambie - I know that his name is Michael, but I have never called him that ... alright, I might have called him "Mykl" but that is different. The Mike that I am talking about actually had two accounts here that I know about ... I think that he was booted from the first one and came back! I do not know about the Mike you are talking about, but it might be the same one and you are just too young to know about the first account.
Yes, MysD is a wonderful lady, and her presence here is greatly missed!

@Unforgettable_Raja Mike197602 I think, and it was a picture of himself in the shower hanging on to the showerhead.

@Unforgettable_Raja I don't know about politics, but he sure did like his hard cider and had a few "drunken discussions" from time to time.

I have been here since 6 years and must say have had some ups and downs but it was an enjoyable journey. Surely during this journey I cannot say that i have not helped anyone or others have not helped me.

@rebelann @DaddyEvil and @Yukimon are both good with technical issues. There are probably many others but those are the two I see around most and whose knowledge I'd trust.

9 years sure is a long time. I guess you could tell a million stories of things that happened. In the last 15 years I've never lived in the same house for 9 years. You must really really really love it here.
