Joining Too Many Sites

Sometimes I wonder how different things would have been if I just followed all the sites where everyone else went to.
I regularly visit a lot of sites, read people's posts, including the admins and owners. That's how I know what's happening elsewhere, even if I'm not a member.
I see the same people in many of them.
Some sign up and start posting and interacting, then become inactive. When they remember and return to the site, it has changed a lot.
Some don't read the rules and jump right in, only to realize they won't get paid. I remember someone mentioning a site to me, but when I read the rules, only certain countries will be paid.
Others keep joining new sites that they get mixed up about the different rules and think they can do the same thing at all the sites they joined. They don't even notice that their violations have been reported.
You'd have to admire their enthusiasm, always eager to join everything and just figure things out along the way. They also seem to recover quickly from the time, money and effort they've lost.

you're referring to the saying 'don't put all your eggs in one basket.'

some sites i was interested in joining but when i was ready, they made changes in membership, how they paid, etc. another thing is how do you know when a site has potential and sustainable?

@TheHorse do you also like having your byline, real or pen name?

For the longest time I had always been a one-site girl. It's only around the middle of this year that I joined Swagbucks accepting a referral from a long time myLot friend who was leaving Bubblews at the time. I figured I'd be able to keep in touch with her if I joined SB - making me a two-site girl then. Well, I'm back on here while not leaving the other two either, so I guess I'm a three-site girl now.

@hereandthere I haven't been able to dedicate myself fairly and equally to each of them. I have to play favorite. It's not easy for me being a 2 or 3 timers.

how do you know when a site is reliable and decide to sign up?

@Gina145 i think others join new sites precisely to be among the first earners

@hereandthere I'm sure some do, but that's an easy way to get caught by a site that will never pay. I tried a couple of the newer ones after things went wrong at Bubblews, but I never got paid by those. Not even once. Now others are popping up that look like they belong to the same people and I don't want to get caught again.

how do you research a site before you're convinced that it's legitimate and decide to join?

@hereandthere well I guess we never know for sure why but we were informed and they did pay right to the end which is something they didn't have to do. It was an honest action on their part.
Lots of people were disappointed and so happy to see it come back eh.

@bluedoll i agree. the only time i was disappointed was how they surprised us about ending the earning program and not explaining why.

the basic rules are standard on most sites - don't spam, don't swear, don't bully. They say ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law - you can't rob a bank and get away with it just because no one said it is wrong - same with social networking etiquette.

@hereandthere they only have themselves to blame when the information is freely accessible

@arthurchappell the problem is some don't check if you're allowed to post your referral link to another site. some don't ask admin first if reposting is allowed.

I make sure to see the payment proofs and reviews before joining a site. These days I am earning in forumcoin, whzon, mylot and blogjob.

which reviews do you rely on - those from members of other countries or your countrymen?
if someone was paid once, are you convinced it's legit?

@hereandthere I was just pointing out to SimplyD how to contact support without logging in.

@hereandthere some pay some don't, most of them serve as back links to my other articles on other sites. So I let them be.

I have joined too many sites, too and yes, I agree with you that sometimes I get mixed up with the rules and that's why I check the rules from time to time as much as I could. And sometimes I forget the other sites so I just focus with what I can remember and where I will truly enjoy

a lot of sites are open and you can navigate within them even without logging in.
that's why i just take the initiative of always checking the owner's, admin's or moderator's profile to update myself - even if i'm not even a member of those sites.
by stalking the owner's, admin's or moderator's profile i also get to know how they run the site, handle issues and treat members.

I keep the number of sites I visit down to a workable amount plus I limit myself to each site plus, for an example, I will only post discussions here on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays so I won't fall behind in responding to comments.

@greatmartin others allot certain minutes or hours or certain times of the day for each site, but your system of assigning days for each site is worth considering, too.

@hereandthere Heh heh. That's correct. I teach at the College, I work with kids for an organization that helps struggling families, and I OCCASIONALLY substitute teach at the preschool where I volunteer. That's the .5. I don't count music, speaker restoration, or the consulting I do for that fella who owes me money.

I really enjoyed the other site but most of my friends have come here so in a way the decision to change was not so difficult. I can manage a couple of sites but no more.
