Biblical Movies

Ever wondered how movies that claim to be based from the Bible are much loosely based from the Holy Book? Most of these movies take the name of a Bible character and his settings, and twists everything without respecting the original story.
A concrete and gruesome example for this is the movie "Noah" which was shown on theathers last 2014. Then followed by "Exodus: Gods and Kings". While the former was so farfetched from the Word and showed God as cruel and legalistic, the latter showed God as sefish and incapable of dividing the Red Sea as He did in according to the Scriptures.
What do you think?

The Bibblical movies of the 60s were very interesting and historical.

I agree with you. That's why we must be careful in what movies we watch. We might end up paying for movies that aren't worth it. :)

I had seen excerpts from the movie Exodus, and I didn't like what I saw. It just wasn't based on the Bible, but the producers own interpretation. I do believe that when any bible story is going to be depicted, they better read about it first in the Bible so as not to make a movie that is totally away from what it says in the Bible. I am awful careful not to watch those that don't live up to the Bible at all.

@Jlyn10 I hope people who watch a bible-based movie refer to the Bible itself when watching.

Noah movie is created by an Atheist so he takes a lot of liberation to change a lot of things and not fully follow the source material.

@vincenttagupa The fact they use British and American white actors instead of middle eastern Jews makes it more inaccurate,

I agree. And most of the uninformed people--those who haven't read the Bible--would most likely believe that what the movie portrayed was what happened when in fact it wasn't.

I prefer to read the original version in the bible where men, even the heroes, are painted in honesty, warts and all, and God is discovered as a long suffering loving God.

@41ComedaleRoad I'm with you to read the original version in the Bible where men, even the heroes, are painted in honesty, warts and all, and God is discovered as a long suffering loving God who sent His only Son Jesus into this world to die on the cross for all mankind to save us from our sins and make the only way to heaven. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life!

@rosekiss I agree totally with what you're saying. I wished they would stick to what the Bible does say when they make a movie relating to the Bible cuz how many people will go home and read their Bible to see what it says??? Right, it's just another of Satan's plots to put down God and His Word- the Bible..It is very sad how far away this country has fallen from "One Nation Under God" On our money it says "In God We Trust" yeah right! The proof is in the pudding. Do I have to say anymore

@Jlyn10 Yes you are right it would confuse people. I like when Christians are making movies there are some really good movies made already, wished I could think of a few to name them so you could look for them. Maybe I'll pursue that sometime for you if you're interested Oh I know one "Fire Proof", have you seen that one?

Like what @jstory07 said, the directors and producers only has money making in their minds, and they never think of the criticism they will face, especially from the Christian community. It's wrong to change the story from the Bible. It's like giving false teachings.

So true. If unbelievers see the movie they might end up believing what was portrayed there when the things there aren't really in the Bible.

@Missmwngi Yes I believe for the most part they are concerned with how much money they will make. Greed is a powerful force. but it isn't more powerful than our God. And there are some wonderful Christian movies out there you just gotta search. One is "Christmas with a capital C."
