Who Is The Killer?

This morning, I have read in the news that Alabama police has charged with murder a 8 year old kid.
This sounds incredible, but this young boy, yesterday has killed a 1 year old girl.
The little girl did not stop crying, he attacked the toddler beating her to death.
I understand that he deliberately killed the toddler, but where was his Mom?
His Mom, with a room mate, went out around 10:30 pm to have fund and they went back home at 2 a.m. leaving at home the boy, the toddler and other 5 kids, all younger than the killer boy.
How can a mother leave a 1 year old toddler in the custody of other children, being the eldest only 8 year old?
In my opinion the mother is as guilty as the kid and she should be put in jail for what she did.

If the mother hadn't left the boy to go out to a nightclub this never would have happened. I think she should get murder, not him. She has been charged with manslaughter.

It would also seem logical to assume that it was not the first time that the children were left alone for long periods. A child needs constant attention up to a certain age and if left to their own devices will be less likely to behave properly.

@TheHorse Plus not know about birth control, and use it? Sounds like there's plenty of blame to go around. What did her parents teach her?

I dont see any wrong in leaving the other kids in custody of an 8 year of today - unless of course, the 8 year old has traits that indicate mental illness or any other incapability. The reason I say so is that kids of today are more responsible than what we were at their age. But yes, from 10:30 pm to 2:00 am is a bit too long and I would not risk that.

@LadyDuck I somehow thing the boy had some problems. Else, why would he try beating a 1 year old so bad. I too was 8 year old back one day and I never thought about beating my younger brother just because he would be shouting or crying.

@thesids Possibly he was exasperate because he was tired, he wanted to sleep and the toddler cried and he was unable to make her stop. This can also lead an adult to become aggressive. Remember that the mother left the house at 10 pm and she was only back at 2 am. Is this a caring mother in your opinion? She was not outside to work, but to have fun.

@blitzfrick I do not know, there are no news about the mother, except that he went to a nightclub to have fun leaving the children home alone.

@LadyDuck I wonder if she had no opportunity to learn about birth control. Some people keep their kids in the dark about such things on purpose. They teach abstinence and such things.

@blitzfrick If she had parents who took care of her. Too many children are left alone or in custody of family members who do not care of them.

Probably the lives of all those children are ruined. I wish them all the best of luck. No doubt this mother learned her "parenting skills" from her own parents.

@arthurchappell good point, one can only guess with her display of negligence how she treated the children when she was home.

OMG!! Are you serious? That is absolutely insane. *shakes my head* I have to agree with you, and no doubt charges will be filed against her. At least child neglect. Jeeze.

@blitzfrick The mother has been charged with manslaughter. She posted $15,000 bond and was released from Jefferson County Jail.

I have read the whole story, the mother, when she came back home at 2 am did not even care to check if their kids were fine. If she did the toddler would have been saved, but she only looked at the toddler the next morning and it was too late.

@LadyDuck Me too she doesn't deserve to have children if she does this. A small child should never be held responsible to take care of his younger brothers and sisters. She should of found a person to watch them if she was going to be gone all day and all night.

@arthurchappell (4509), Isn't it illegal here in the States to leave a child under the age of 15 home alone? I believe so. Yes, she is responsible for this act of cruelty. What all esle has she done against these children, I am sure this is not her first time to leave them, sounds like she just might be guilty of a lot of things.

I feel both mothers are guilty!!! I do not see how someone could leave 6 kids, with an 8 year old to babysit. Both women should be put under the jail.

I saw this on the news and totally agree with you. The mother should be charged with murder for leaving her baby with an 8 year old. I mean, what was she thinking? Evidently she wasn't thinking of her baby but only having a good time.

This woman went to a night club for 5 hours, from late night to early morning. I am sure she does not care at all if she lost a child. When she went back home at 2 in the morning, she did not even dare to check if her toddler girl was fine and alive. If she did, they could have saved the baby. She does not deserve your pity.
