I have just returned to my computer to see the terrible news coming out of France. An email from a news source informs that there have been multiple terrorist attacks in the city of Paris.
In addition to at least one suicide bombing, gunmen entered the Bataclan theatre and began shooting. A reporter who was in the theater at the time of the attack stated that he saw 25-30 dead. Police are storming the theatre and there are reports of automatic fire. The gunmen may have been carrying AK-47s.
I don't usually watch the news but I am going to turn it on now and see if there is any more information available. I hope and pray that they are able to catch the terrorists and stop the bloodshed.

@topffer Which leaves no doubt that it is ISIS, and there are reports that one of them said he was from ISIS. But earlier today, President Obama told the nation that ISIS has been contained. And tonight he won't "speculate" on who committed these atrocities. Pretending that we don't know who did this is not doing us any good. I am so sorry for the horrors of what is happening in your country.

It's sad that hate still is a thing.

Hate isn't something we can eradicate unless we eradicate human beings. I am sorry to say that there is no utopia possible, no Star Trek future of peace and understanding, as long as the world is full of people. It's time to look to our hearts and recognize that they are easily turned to evil. And we also need to realize that these people are fed hatred every day of their lives, this is all they know.

Reports now that Al Queda is suspected due to the sophistication of the attack.

@Rollo1 I hope that can all be sorted out, but they are opposite sides of the same coin. I hope they find all the gunmen.

This is a horrible shocking act of terrorism and it is incomprehensible to sane human beings.

As they interview people who were there, I am struck with how terrifying it was for each and every person who found himself in one of those situations. They say 7 attacks now. People just going about their lives, suddenly attacked and killed. It's beyond comprehension.

What astounds me the most is what is the French intelligence high on? How could they not see it coming?! It makes me doubt their professionalism and their commitment towards the safety of French citizens! Its a full-blown European powerhouse for cryin out loud?! First Hebedo and now this and that too in such a small time span? What's astounding is that the killers are still out there!
A Black day in the French story.
Worse still, this one incident will definitely usher them into drone attacks in Syria and Iraq part of the ISIS problem, which just means more civilian casualties.
My condolences and sympathy with the victims of both sides.

Catching those responsible is rarely a problem - they are only too happy to die for their perverse beliefs. The real problem is catching those who are planning the next attack, and the one after that. How can they not see that with each atrocity, the greatest damage they inflict is to their faith.

They do damage to the faith of people who are not extremists. There are Muslims who do not see Islam the way they do. But the extremists do not see it as damaging to their faith, they would happily kill Muslims who did not support them as they would the infidel. They see this as the ultimate expression of their religion. They are the only faithful in their minds.

@Rollo1 - True. Shi'a Muslims are at greater risk than we in the West are. I see the hastag "TerrorismHasNoReligion" is trending at the moment, but I think that sentiment is rather optimistic. Sure, these extremists have as much in common with ordinary Muslims as the WBC has with ordinary Christians, but it's pie-in-the-sky stuff to deny that religion is a catalyst for the terrors.

perhaps less refugees and immigrants is the solution to the situation. I have written about it in my post
