Winter Is Starting To Bite

And so it came to pass... it was forecast to bring 'doom and gloom' (and 'destruction') but really it did not (fortunately) live up to such lofty expectations. Hurricane Abigail came and went and whilst it was very wet and very windy the lack of anything too serious resulting has very much left a feeling of 'pfft', what was all the fuss about.
Interestingly it was the first time ever that a 'hurricane' that was going to hit this part of Scotland had been officially named... I mention officially simply because the last time a hurricane hit it recieved an unofficial name... that of 'hurricane bawbag' (must have been a Glaswegian that came up with that).
Maybe the MET office (or something) decided they couldn't have a repeat of such a name so decided to imitate our friends across the water and give it a proper name.
Anyroads, despite Hurricane Abigail not really being that bad it really has left the impression that Winter is starting to bite.

I don't think my country could cope with typhoons.

@briggsy326 we always get hit by around 20 typhoons or maybe tropical storm. And our area gets flooded yearly :(

I think they just pluck a name out of nowhere... I do know in the US they name them alternatively as a 'male' name then a 'female' name... ;)

@briggsy326 After they run out of English names, I think they can use Spanish names or Russian names.
That will make reporting interesting, and in the end, nobody knows how to pronounce the names of the Hurricane

It's always nice when a hurricane just fizzles and doesn't cause much problem. Our hurricane season is basically over here in the US and we only made it through half the alphabet this year

Ah so it goes alphabetically. :) That makes sense, I just presumed they just plucked the names out of nowhere. lol

Yes, winter is upon us. I think it is going to be a bad winter here. Already we have received more weather in these last few months then all of last winter combined.

@briggsy326 Yes we usually get quite a bit of snow during winter. But the last few years have been strange and we got almost none. This winter seems to be coming back strong though.

I am one of those rare people who actually love winter. I do not feel the cold and yet feel very uncomfortable in the heat of the summer .... even our half hearted summers !

I thought Abigail was classified as a storm rather than a hurricane.
