We all need a break

I have to admit, it can be tiresome getting alerts and tips at all hours of the night on top of covering breaking news stories that might take up the better part of my day. There are even times I say, "I can't hear one more thing happening in the world today".
We all need a break from time to time. That's when I check in with all my connections and just see what's happening. Whether its something about your day at work or a family event, it's nice to take a moment to connect on a more personal level.
Usually, at work I collect facts, stories, event details. Sometimes, I get a personal story to cover, but not as often as I would like. It can all be exciting, draining and even painfully drawn out at times.
What are some of the things you enjoy doing? You know... when you feel like you need a break from it all. I also enjoy getting together with a friend for coffee as well as just spending some quiet time walking, biking, taking photos, gardening or even cooking.

Yes, there's just something about working in the garden that relaxes me and makes me feel closer to God. Maybe it has to do with caring for everything and watching it grow.

I go for walks in our city's nature parks, or, sometimes I'll go hiking or camping in a state or national park. Spending some time on the beach is very therapeutic as well.

@WendySpickerman I will just lay on a towel on the sand, close my eyes, and just listen to the waves crashing on the shore. It's very therapeutic. Only problem is, I always fall asleep because it is so soothing, and end up getting a sunburn! lol

@moffittjc That would be a problem. I enjoy walking along the shore line. There's something nice and relaxing as the water washes over your feet and oh my gosh what exfoliation treatment and the dry sand massages the arch of the feet.

I certainly agree with that. I haven't been to the beach wow since 2010. I think I need another vacation even if it's just the weekend.

@amadeo those adult coloring books have become so popular. I saw a whole display of them when I was in Michaels (craft store) the other day

Sometimes Jessa Lyn, I think we need to force ourselves to take that break. Some of us like myself, keep going and going until we're just exhausted from everything. It's good to want to succeed and surpass goals but there are limits for even me. I hope you get your break soon. Especially with the holiday's coming.

This is the reason why I don't watch the news or log onto any site that can broadcast news coverage, I just cant take anymore heart break. I know I should be watching the news so I can be aware of whats happening in the world today, but everything that is happening is people dying, I really don't want to hear about that. I have enough people dying around where I live. Its always someone shooting someone else over something dumb.

Reading, what genre of books do you like? Do you have a favorite book or author you go back to over and over again?

I try to find some time every day to get away from all the news and politics and whatever else is happening in the world. I love to spend time with a friend over a cup of coffee or tea and just have some laughs
