the perks of pregnancy

Being pregnant for the first time has given me so much change of everything. One of the saddest part is that i don't get to eat those foods i used to eat before like fish, not fully cooked eggs, tons of junk foods and chocolates, and the super spicy Korean ramen. I also miss sleeping on my tummy, drinking coffee and jogging (joke). Well I am not really fond of jogging or exercise, I do it very seldom way back when I am not yet pregnant. As the months passed, body pains arise too - back pain, swelling feet, toothache and headache. Back pains are the worst. And, oh, I almost forgot, I have pregnancy tumor in the face too. It's called pyogenic glanuloma or pregnancy tumor when pregnant. The "tumor" word is scary but it looks like a bump, like an insect bite that has reddish bump and always bleeds. I cannot remember why or how did i get this but some say it will disappear after delivery of baby. Or worst case that it won't, I have to let the doctors remove it. Whew! But for the love of having a baby to cradle, I can do this. 3 months to go!!! Now, let's talk about the perks. Well, entering the company premises, I don't fall in line anymore. And at work, they don't give me much work load. Sounds good, right? My husband took over the household chores too (all of the chores) plus he gives me a foot massage everyday because of my swollen feet. I can say the sad and happy times are 50/50. As I am getting nearer, I feel heavier so I am walking slower and slower everyday. And I think the worst part of this journey is the delivery of my baby. I am so nervous. Everyone says it was very painful so I am praying for our safety when that time comes. I hope everyone of you here mylot mommies had a wonderful pregnancy journey. This one is the best journey so far as we are creating life inside our body. Awesome!

If labor was that bad people would not keep doing it! Keep that in mind. I had all 3 of my children naturally and I am pregnant with baby number 4. Labor does hurt, I won't lie but it is so worth it and it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. Congrats on your pregnancy! I am sure all will be fine.

oh, i was so relieved with what you said... but you are right... some people make and make babies so i guess it doesn't hurt them that much.. the reward is life itself so seize it.. thanks!

Yes, I recall not being able to sleep on my belly too. I didn't care for it. Also my back hurt so bad. I finally went outside and slept on the ground and it was the best night's sleep I had had.

i really really wanted to sleep on my tummy... and also to lie straight on my back.. i have tried the latter but then when changing position like sideways, my tummy hurts.. so i seldom do it... i sometimes put pillow on my back while lying sideway... it's like lying on my back and side, 50/50 share...

Looking at the world's population which stands at around 7 billion surely all those came by birth from somewhere. If they could go through it so could you except may be that bump that you talk on your face which I am hearing about for the first time.

well the bump on my face is a first time too. and it's so frustrating because i have to put medical plaster everyday to cover the ugly-looking bump. i just wish this will disappear as soon as i gave birth.

I enjoyed being pregnant but I only did it twice! The first time is scarey because others tell you their stories which are not usually the easy kind of deliveries. No two are the same, so don't listen, trust your midwife and think past the labour into the joy of motherhood.

@Auntylou why? what happened with the first one? i thought once you had a c-section, your next baby should be via c-section too...

@adnileb I had 2 pregnancies and for the first I ended up with an emergency caesarian section, but the second was a normal birth and painless, so don't worry

First of all congratulations that you are going to have your first baby, and for the protocol you are getting your husband is really very caring you should be grateful for that and you dont need to worry for the delivery its true that it is painful but there so many effective Analgesics you can use and once you will see your baby all of your pain will go away best of luck for your final trimester

Thank you! I will be on my 26th week tomorrow and 14 weeks to go! I heard from some of my friends that they were not given any anesthesia so they felt the pain so much. Well, I think I will just think of my baby and I will get through it.

Oh hi ! It's nice to see that you are back here ! Anyway , pregnancy is the best thing that happens to a woman ( i can say this because you and i share the same feeling ) But after all these weirdness that happens during our pregnancy , the moment the baby is lain beside you , you will also feel the most wondrous feeling of being a mother already . Don't be worried . Just keep praying for a safe delivery . There are methods at the hospital to make it a painless one .

@adnileb The labor aspect is painful . But for me , it wasn't much . Maybe it's because when i was pregnant my husband and i always walk going to our offices because we are just within the city .

@SIMPLYD we always walk too... going to work and going home. Our office is very far from home. we only walk from the building to the gate of company when going home. 15minutes walking in the morning and 25 minutes in the afternoon.. plus the 3 floors to climb

For me the perks out-weighed the negatives but I had a really easy pregnancy! Best of luck to you as it continues.

@adnileb I never had morning sickness, I worked right up until the day before I delivered. I didnt have swelling or varicose veins. I was LUCKY. The only real 'symptom' I had was heart burn and it wasn't horrendous.

You can do it. Kaya mo yan and congrats. Yes, delivering a baby is really painful but after your child is born, you will forget all those pains to welcome your baby. Just don't miss your check up. Always follow doctor's orders. That is very important.

@adnileb I think it has something to do with education. Most families, at least in our country, fail to discuss the consequences of such actions...

From your discussion it is very clear that you are getting a lot of care in your pregnancy. Thank God for that. I was deprived of all that during my pregnancy. My mother in law didnot look at me, she only complains about the undone works, and my husband who is a mother boy did not bother to care me. In the midst of physical and mental strain, I had no sugar, no pressure, no swelling in feet, no pregnancy tumor but lot of back pain . Ate whatever food I got, because after a lot of household works I did not get time to prepare my own food. I could not bother about the nutrition... only thing I had done was praying to God for my Child's health. But God heard my prayer....He gave me a lovely Boy and now I am having Two Adorable Sons, who love me a lot. Their Father is also getting better now a days. Children changed our life positively...but then also I cannot forget my pitiable pregnancy days. Dear Adnileb you are lucky.....pray God for the everlasting love of your husband and kids.

i am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law... most in-laws are of that kind so i am the lucky one to have such a wonderful parents and in-laws and husband... but sounds good that your husband is getting better now and hope it will continue so you can have everlasting love together with your kids... maybe you should live separately with your mother-in-law so you can a more peaceful life with your own family... wish you good luck...
