Do you have experience of any writing site that was shut down? I was on Helium, Squidoo and Bubblews. Helium was shut down in 2014, Squidoo was bought by Hubpages in 2014 and Bubblews shut down in 2015.

I was on all of the above. Helium was the best and I earned more money there than any other writing site. Unfortunately they started paying less and people began to leave and it was jsut a matter of time. Hub pages is still holding its own.

I agree. Helium paid quite well for a long time then the owner sold it and that was when it all went downhill.

At first I was writing for HubPages . . . But I got pissed off coz one of my articles got 3000 plus views . . I got nothing from it. Not even a penny. I found Bubblews and I made decent money writing funny articles and stories. I also tried Persona Paper . . O, just a waste of time writing for this site. Just registered here a month ago.

The first writing site that paid me was Bukisa and it didn't shut down but rather stopped its compensation plan to writers. Then, Helium shut down. I got paid quite well there because writers were paid upfront as well as revenue sharing. Then, I joined Squidoo but never got the hang of it. I think my account is deleted there, I don't know. But I believe that for every door that was shut, others will open. Worst come to worst, writers can and should start their own website or blog.

I was on Squidoo and was just getting the hang of making money when it shut down. Then I went to Bubblews and you know what happened there.

I never joined Helium, and though I opened a Squidoo account, I never posted anything there. HubPages has always been my #1 site.

I tried Helium, but didn't care for it too much. Looked into Squidoo and Hub Pages. I wrote for Associated Content for sometime, it was great! Then, Yahoo took over and it went down the tubes. I saved all my old content just in case I found another writing site to go with. So far I haven't come across anything nearly as good as what Associated Content was.

I was on Squidoo and Bubblews. I never did anything with Helium. I loved Squidoo and made the most money there.

I experienced the Bubblews collapse. I was on the Hubpages side of that merger. Don't really make money over there. Writing sites online have the way of coming and going. Best idea if you're trying to earn money is spread yourself between several sites.

I, like many here, wrote on Bubblews before it began to unravel. I also wrote on Hubpages for a year or two.

I never joined any of these so it is hard to say which one shut down or not.

Not writing sites, but forums. I used to join and participate on forums, paid or free, and they were shut down one by one.
