Tales of the Village - apologising for the cat

I've written before about my cat, Baloo, his wandering ways and his love of the local pub. Recently he's been home a lot because the pub was getting a new landlady and was closed for a week and a half for a refurbishment. It opened again on Thursday last week and last night we dropped round to say hello to the new manageress.
My husband strode in and asked if she'd met Baloo yet, explaining that he was 'Baloo's dad'. She had and she thought he was "very friendly and affectionate".
Ah yes, that's how they all start out, thinking "What a lovely kitty". Then they can't get him off the pool table, he wants to sit on the bar and cosy up on the bar-towels and then, before you can say "Pork Scratchings" he's in the kitchen sitting on the counter whilst the chef is doing the Sunday roasts.
Hubby left our phone number and an 'apology in advance', telling her that if he gets annoying, to call us and we'll go and collect him. It starts out as affection and ends up with Baloo running the pub his own way. Landlords and landladies come and go but the regulars all know that it's Baloo's pub really.

@boiboing My cat Sid sends Baloo a hearty meow and says way to go. Sid rules our house like a Prince and would rule a pub too if there was one around our suburban neighborhood. More power and best of luck to Baloo

I would love to know what he really gets up to when we are not around.

And that is a smart person that realizes this. The earlier the better. Hehe

Baloo will start pulling the pints soon. :)
Oh and charging the landlord for being in his pub.

@boiboing That's just to keep up with the appearances. He probably runs a local "protection racket".

@boiboing pretty sure that Baloo thinks he owns the bar, ya'll, maybe even the village

Cats are so sure of themselves and where they belong.

Well I'm glad she gets along with him so far. I'm also glad you're responsible enough pet owners that you make yourselves known to her so that if the cat becomes a problem she'll let you know.

@boiboing As most cats are.. but at least you make yourselves known instead of just leaving her to deal with the cat by herself and possibly trapping/relocating him if he becomes a nuisance.

Realistically there's not much we can do - he's very headstrong.

Unfortunately he is probably the most attractive thing about that pub. I don't think that they make a lot of profits.

It's obviously a typical English village with eccentric cats and a great pub.

The tales of Baloo never disappoint me. He really should have his own book out by now, don't you think?

He is not short of drinking buddies but when he comes home he is a stroppy sweary oick with a tendency to growl a lot. He saves his charm for the pub.
