I know some people have had their Christmas trees up for a few weeks now, however for me putting your Christmas tree up in November is too early. When it comes to our tree I like it to go up as close to the 1st of December as possible. This year it will go up on the 2nd which I am happy with. One year it didn't go up until about 10 days before Christmas, however this was because we moved house but I still wasn't happy about it.
As for taking the tree down it tends to come down on the 2nd of January, we leave it up for New Years Day but that's it by then Im ready to take it down and get the room back to normal.
So when do you think is the ideal time to put yiur tree up and take it down again?

My idea is to put it up a week before Christmas and to take it down after New Years only because I am too lazy to take it down right away lol

Mine goes up the day before Christmas and comes down Christmas afternoon.
This is very easy to accomplish now, since my daughter is 27 and won't get upset about when I put it up or take it down again! (My Christmas tree is a five inch tall artificial tree. I get it out of its box, put a battery into it and it lights up. I leave it on until I take it down and put it away for the next year!)

@k270585 Well, I am over 50 and work in a Walmart. Since Walmart insists on starting Christmas decorations and sales well before Christmas, I am thoroughly done with Christmas every year way before it even arrives!
If you love Christmas, my suggestion for you would be to go work in a Walmart store! You won't like any holiday long after you have it crammed down your throat for a month or more before it arrives!
@Vandana7 Dearheart, if you came to visit me at Christmas time, I promise I would put up a real tree and all the decorations I used before I started working at Walmart!
I have wreaths, a one and a half foot tall Ferris wheel that plays music and flashes lights of every color as it rotates, Singing Santa, a large gold bell that plays Christmas music and myriads of wind up music boxes each playing a different song, animated mice who sing Christmas carols and dance to them, a small bear that sits and blows bubbles and much more, Beloved!

Now, this is what I like about Christmas. Seriously, many of the traditions that we follow as children and build up memories with each passing year, and relive them well into old age. We have something to talk about and feel nostalgic about. 20 years to me seems a good set of memories.

@vandana7 indeed. The height of our Christmas tree is not too high, but its 'leaves' are still thick. my sister though wants to make it thicker and denser so she adds more green 'leaves', and plans to put more Christmas balls and bells.

@vandana7 Yes, vanny, I would love to have a virtual tree instead of going to all the trouble of putting up my five inch Christmas tree and then having to take it down again every year!

My mum has the whole 12 days before and after thing firmly ingrained in me, so it goes up around the 13th (depending on my shifts) and comes down the fifth or sixth (again depending what I'm working). This year my husband wants a real tree, so if we do choose one I guess it will depend what day we buy it

I dont know. In recent years people find any excuse to put up a tree, citing that it is the "pagan" way, which of course is true if you have a tree in your home for the whole year around or whenever the pagan ritual calls for it. Mind you those who follow the rule aren't aware that you are supposed to decorate it head to toe! I usually put my tree up a week after 1st of December and take it down before New Years.
