The Best Christmas Present Ever

You won't find this Christmas present in the mall, online, or in a gift catalog. You won't find it nestled under your tree with fancy paper and satin bow. You won't find commercialism or greed at the center of this gift. No ornate lights and lawn ornaments as you try to outdo your neighbors in the decorations. It isn't found in the Christmas feast or in all your relatives coming to have their fill. It isn't even found in the shining faces of your children as they tear off the wrapping on all those gifts you bought them, maxing out your credit cards to do so. No, the best Christmas present ever given is much more than mistletoe and holly, figgy pudding, snow, and a cold winter's night. The best Christmas present ever given was given by God when He came to earth in the form of a baby to prepare the world for the greatest gift we could ever receive - our salvation. Take time out of all your cooking, shopping, preparations, Christmas programs, and choir rehearsals, and say thanks to God for His present. If it weren't for God's Christmas present to us, we wouldn't have this time of year and all the celebrations we think are important. Thanks for reading

We need to always keep in mind the reason for the season and give thanks.

The greatest gift ever given and often ignored, but without it, it would be a dark world.

Thank you. With all the commercialism it's easy to lose focus on the real meaning of Christmas.

That's why on Christmas day , let us first of all go to church to give thanks to our Lord and commemorate his birthday , as Catholics believe .

@just4him I understand some religion don't have our tradition of celebrating Christmas on December 25 . In Catholic churches , December 25 is just like a Sunday of obligation where 4 masses are offered in the morning as well as in the afternoon until 8 in the evening .

@SIMPLYD I grew up Lutheran and always went to church on Christmas. Since I became a Christian and started attending Bible churches, I found they don't have church on Christmas, which is sad, but at least they have church on Christmas Eve. There are three services. I will most likely go to the first one at 3 PM.

The last few years we have been focusing more on teh reason for the season. It has given so much more meaning to the Christmas time.

Yes, what they are going to get, not necessarily what they will give.
