Christmas has come and gone

The preparation took longer than the celebration and it always is. The buying spree was unbelievably endless specially during the week leading up to Christmas. The shops were all buzzing with customers, everyone behaving like it's the last shopping day ever, filling up the carts, each one with at least a shopping bag in hand.
The novelty of gift buying spree, massive food preparation and partying has worn off for me. I just had a simple celebration with my daughter today and I felt more relaxed.
Did you get caught in the holiday rush?

I will be relieved too when it's over as I've been using it as an excuse to procrastinate and just do more cooking, more shopping and more drinking

I can't lie, Christmas just hasn't been the same as it has been in past years. The weeks of preparation and gearing up gets to you after a while. By the time the actual day gets there, it's just rather tiring and a sense of relief when it's over. Well, it's not completely over, until you put all of the decorations today.
I think the older I get, the more weary Christmas makes me. I don't know why. Good to see some family members, especially when they're doing well. But for all of the preparations and the gearing up, Christmas really can be over in a snap before you really know it.
But hey, it's the longest period before the insanity hits again, so it has that going for it.

Honestly, I also feel the same now about Christmas. It's more for the children, actually. I enjoyed mine, it's quieter and I had more ME time. Happy New Year!

No I did not get caught up in the rush of Christmas buying, I bought some things early in the month and the rest online so it was not a rush time for me. There were just 4 of us here today and we made the traditional turkey with all the trimmings, most was prepared yesterday and put in the oven during the early morning.

It was very relaxing and I was not stressed at all as I had everything bought ahead of time and the Christmas diner was not stressful at all either. I was organized as I hate to wait for the last minute to do anything because you never know what will happen.

No, I actually ran out of time. I didn't have much money this year, so I didn't do much shopping. I am more worried about afterwards and the cost to me.

@vickyrose I can't believe how some people spend and then complain about the debt afterwards. Most people should understand if you can't afford anything.

That's a way to be more realistic and not spend too much for a day's celebrity.

We are still celebrating Rosy. It is not even half over yet where I live.
It is snowing and lovely a day though. Happy Christmas late to you then.

It takes longer to make everything than it takes to eat everything,.
