A Memory Long Forgotten, Remembered Today

Thanks to @Raelove and her post Just Me and the Snow for reminding me of this night. One of my favorite memories from my youth - I was eighteen and a freshman in college and I was dating a 24 year woman who was also a freshman after a hitch in the military. She was staying with a host family just off campus, an easy walk across the river from my dorm. I'd gone to meet her at the house and we were walking to town. It was snowing lightly and there was about three inches of dry powder on the ground. We were holding hands, walking through the snow under the soft glow of the street lights, as the gentle flakes fell around us. The only sound we could here was our own footsteps in the snow. No one else was out and about and it seemed like we had the whole world to ourselves. Suddenly, T let go of my hand and ran ahead of me. She pulled off her hat, kicked around in the snow, twirled about, and laughed. "I just love nights like this!" she said as walked up to her. I brushed her hair back from her face, pulled her close, and kissed her. "Me, too," I whispered. When I close my eyes I can still see her, brown hair twirling as the snow falls around her.

That is a lovely snow memory. My memories are mostly tramping along to and from school. I did love all the different types of snow. And walking while it was lightly snowing was lovely. But that rarely happens here. Just like when it rains here, the snow usually arrived in a storm!

It is a wonder I have not incorporated it into one of my books, but then they are all set in the south along the coast. That night was magical. Alas, we never saw each other again after that semester.

I have no idea. We lost touch when I left college to join the military. Sadly, I don't even remember her last name anymore.

What a sweet moment! That made me daydreaming of the woman special to my heart. Dreaming of brushing her hair back from her face, pull her close to me and kiss her gently. Ugh! I have to stop this insanity of mine ahahaha

Oh my goodness, @DWDavis ... if this hadn't said she had been in the military and a few years older than you, I'd be totally creeped out and asking if this happened in PA... because I was part of the very same scene you described. Well except for the kiss... I was seeing Eric's brother at the time but it wasn't going well... oh my, don't ask! :-)
