How many people believe that money don't bring happiness? For me I believe that money can bring happiness in our life's. But I'm not saying that if you don't have money you're not happy. The thing is money can make life easier and will add more happiness in your life. Because when you can give your family the good life that is the true happiness for me when I can give everything in this world to my family and my love ones. So what is your guys take on this question?

Money makes life simpler it allows you to buy things that make you happier as you mentioned. I kind of think of this like the saying that money is the root to all evil. However I think it is wrong, money isn't the root to all evil i think that the love of money is the root to all evil.

I love how you said 'the love of money is the root to all evil'. This is spot on. The people who are wealthy and openly flaunt the fact, are the ones who are generally not respected and become the most hated. Very valid point

I go for balance in life - not too much of one thing only. I am reminded of a story - a man was asked to choose one of the two options - happiness without wealth, or wealth without happiness and he chose the second with a take "I was deprived all along; wealth will get me out of the rut, I can even buy happiness"! Thankfully, happiness is a state of the mind - siva

I like that story. Maybe it really depends on what people need. Happiness all begins within ourselves. If you can afford to have everything that you need, that's also happiness.

@cherriefic We have our own take on happiness - some find it spending time with family, others in doing business, professional goals, to become wealthy etc. As for myself I want balance in whatever I do so that I don't just concentrate on only one facet of life - siva

Money would bring me extreme happiness and there is so much more I could do for my son if I had money healthwise to pay medical bills.

@TiarasOceanView if you had some money you could help your son so much and he could have the operation he needs.

If we are penniless and need money, or are destitute without even the fundamental survival tools of life, can we still be happy, & why would we want to be happy anyway, in that kind of a situation?
Happiness can build itself on a foundation of something else, yet it also stands alone. So, I think that there are two types of happiness.
If you are poor, but then suddenly achieve/acquire great wealth, happiness can sit down atop that newly gained wealth for you, for a while, but if the wealth disappears, you will need to find another sitting platform for your happiness then.
If happiness is unearthed for you from the fundamental joy that is always present in your heart of love, perhaps put there by God, when he created you, as you, you can be happy, and contented then, even in the midst of turmoil and destitution some will say, but is this true?
Yes, and no.
I think that it all depends on whether your mind leads you to unhappiness, or if your heart sticks with the happiness that is inbuilt there for you to succour on whenever the need arrives for you to do so.
Your mind’s happiness is the temporary first type of happiness, that happiness that is inbuilt into your heart is the second type of happiness, one that is a permanent, ongoing, everlasting type, I feel.

In the old days we used to say that money doesn't buy happiness but it helps. When you don't have money that is all you worry about as we live in a world where it is hard to do anything without money. One doesn't need a lot of money but one needs enough and a little bit more as then you can do what you want, when you want, without worrying about if you can afford it. The Bible says that money is a protection. It can't do everything but it can do a lot.

I guess you could say based on my taxes I live almost in poverty. We just get by but this is the big part we have a place to sleep, heat, internet for entertainment and food most of the time so I feel I shouldn't complain. Truth though if I had money I could help my parents retire sooner. I could buy a nicer car. I have owned nothing but used cards and out of the 4 I owned 2 were lemons. I find without money it can be easier to not be ready for things and so much added stress. Even though I don't think money is everything the fact of the matter is this, it makes life easier and that can make a huge difference.

I know, money have essential role in our life. It can make our life easier, and life which run easier brings we happy. But, money does not everything in our life. There many things that make our life being happy. Love, safe, good relationship are other things that makes us happy.

Yes it can! But if you have only have money and power without friends, then it's just going to eat you up on the inside! We all need money to survive, the whole world runs on legal tender, but we gotta make sure we don't lose out our close ones along the way.

Happiness is a state of mind and it truly depends on the person...and personally my opinion has always been that although money is the basic necessity its not the end neither the beginning of true happiness..there are no ends to the greed of human beings and no amount of money in our bank accounts can suffice all of them. So happiness without money is much easier to achieve than with money...

I agree that money brings happiness but the love of money is a different story.

Money does play a very important role just as important as non-materialistic things. Money is definitely needed to make one happy but so is love, care and concern. But then I know a few people who have tons of money and who have no love in them and they are extremely happy. It's really ironic though cause this can be seen from both sides. But yes in the end money will make anyone happy.
