I have had enough!

Three times in the last thirteen days is more than enough!
I function when I have a routine and that means seven regukar days in a week with no holidays or I end up not knowing which day of the week it is
Thank goodness today is the last of the holidays until the end of March (and we put the clocks forwatd here that holiday weekend too )
I took the tree and all of the decorations down to the basement this afternoon and felt a certain sense of release. Tomorrow schools start again here and from next Monday everything will be totally normal again for three months
When is the next festive day where you are?

Though there are a few one-day celebrations in many parts of India (and also one or two regional festivals more than the one day celebrations), for most of India, it should be someday in March when they (if possible, me included) will be celebrating Holi - which is also known as the festival of colors. In the northern part of India it is about a week long celebration, but most of the country celebrates it on two days. Officially, the second day, which is the color playing one, is a holiday for most of the country and people.

Oh yes I have seen that festival of colours mentioned several times here. MyLot is so enlightening and educates us about what is going on in other parts of the world

@mysdianait Yes! holi but before that we have makarajyothi a tribute festival to lord ayyapa, one of the legendary deity (god) in south. People take a vow and fast for 48 days with good hygiene and veg diet. around a week or before they take a pilgrimage tour to to ayyapa temple in sabarimala(kerala) with offering bag of ghee and coconut for the deity. Also it is believed that on the 18 steps to the main god sits 18 siddhas(angels of god) who looks upon our good and bad deeds account Also it is said that, if any1 does this regularly for 48 years god ayyappa grants them moksha (eternal state of bliss). :)

@mysdianait Now that as it is considered improper to ask a lady about anything related to her age, I think I should ask @topffer about his date of birth
After all, I need some extra stuff on my cake that day

The next Holiday here is Valentine's Day in February but we don't decorate or do anything for that day. After that is Easter! =)

Do workers get a day off for Valentine's day?
It is celebrated here too and we also have carnival starting now but no days are holidays before Easter.

You don't do anything for Valentine's Day? You're supposed to be wined and dined and all that romantic nonsense. I don't bother these days either.

Today, actually... it's the toddler's second birthday, which means I have to get to work baking cupcakes for this evening and getting her gift (a Green Toys seaplane for her to play with in the bath) wrapped.
After that, we're clear until the kindergartner's birthday in March.

@mysdianait And the same to you, since I'm pretty sure I haven't wished you one yet.
It's hard to believe this is the start of the Terrible Twos... they do grow so fast! She's going to be transitioning to a new toddler classroom at school soon, too...

I have been confused all the week Diana. I thought that today it was Thursday, I am glad it's only Wednesday and this is the last day of the 12 day of Christmas. Tonight we have the last dinner celebration and tomorrow all the decorations will be in the boxes in the understairs. The next fetive day will be the 19th of March (st. Joseph), Italy has removed this holiday, anyway it's a Saturday.

Ah before the 19th March we will have 9th and 10th February (Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday) when schools will be off but those are not holidays either.

@LadyDuck No they are not and they usually call it a holiday for carnival which has nothing to do with anything religious at all. I bet none of those children really know what those days represent

You mean they do not turn your world upside down for Valentine's Day? That is the next one the store is gearing up for, and Easter after that.

No here in Italy all that happens is that couples go out for a special date and maybe exchange gifts too but it is not as commercialised as it is in other places. It only involves couples and not relatives all along the line like there in US either. Well not yet but we seem to copy everything eventually if it means extra sales

@Hatley I guess there are cards and gifts already i the shops in UK too but here in Italy nosign of it yet. We have carnival which means masks and outfits for the kids, wich is the priority here right now.

As Chinese, we are celebrating Chinese New Year, which is exactly one month from now. It's the most important festival we celebrate in the year.
Though my husband will only have two days off, we usually take a few more days off as we are going back to hometown and celebrate it with our parents and visit other relatives as well. I am happy that we are slowly building up our rhythm at home, but I am sure it'll be affected during and after the Chinese New Year. It'll certainly take some time to get back to normal.

@mysdianait I should be away for a week. But, I might not have much to share, except for the reunion dinner on Chinese New Year eve. I guess the rest of the days, we will just visit our relatives.

How many days will you be away? You will have a lot to tell us once you get back I hope We usually only get a short article on the television with few shots of the celebrations os it will be good to here about it firsthand

I think you can never have enough of a good thing, and days off are good things. Aren't they?
Easter is next for us and I do believe it's the end of March like where you are. Or are you here and just confusing me?
I don't believe in god but I do like to 'celebrate' his holidays.

Days off are indeed good but they are even better when they are all together and not spread out over weeks
Yes Easter will be at the end of March here where I am too. Yes I am here and have been for almost four years now. Maybe it's time to go back there for a visit
I don't know what I believe in but I'll take the holidays too

I don't let holidays interfere with my life, I'm retired and don't have kids to worry about so until someone online mentions it I rarely know a holiday is going to happen, of course the one thing everyone online likes to do is talk about holiday gifts, food, drink and impending guests.
As for stress, I have none. I do what I want when I want unless Mother Nature decides to kick in some kind of weird weather .... like the snow the day after Christmas and the rain and fog we're getting now.
I'm so ready for Spring

That sounds perfect! As much as I would like to forget that it is the holiday season, it is impossible with family but it is over until next time now thank goodness.
Yes, roll on spring indeed. I can see that the days are getting longer already, if only by a few minutes and that is a sure sign that we are going in the right direction

I guess we're back to certain normalcy here although kids are still on summer break for another 3 to 7 weeks. Also the 26th is Australia Day and I'm already so looking forward to the holiday. It's a bit disappointing that it falls on a Tuesday so the Monday before would be pinched between the weekend and the holiday...

If a holiday falls on a thursday or a tuesday then the day between is usually added to the break and workers have a long weekend. That is good for tourism here as, when it happens in the warmer months, people take off somewjere away from their home.

@jaboUK The real sales here are twice a year and supposedly 'end of season' but as this winter has been so warm and the season has not even started, there are real bargains to be found. Of course if next year winter is warm too we will have easyed our money
Most places have some sort of discount all year round here too and if you shop around you can always find something without spending the earth.

I took my Christmas stuff down before New Years, as I got tired of seeing it, and I got tired of watching Christmas movies as well, as they started showing them back on Halloween, which was way to early. I am glad tht it is all over now, and we can all get back to normal. I am hoping to make more than last month too, as the traffic was down, but now it seems to have pickded up some, and that is a good thing.

Your holidays are really long! From Halloween indeed I would have gone crazy if things had got underway that early. My favourite tv shows start back again next week after a three week break and as I don't watch films (I will catch up in future years with what I am missing) I was really fed up with what they were showing but two months of it would have really knocked me out!

@mysdianait It got to the point, where I just avoided watching them at all costs, as they just kept repeating them over and over, and it got boring to always see the same ones. Sure they had new ones, but then they played them over and over too. I didn't even want to watch mine own, although I did anyway, as they weren't put on Hallmark, and I didn't have to watch them over and oiver again, if I didnt want tol. I am so glad it is all over, as now things will get back to normal after two months.

As far as my concerned ,festivals are burdensome in a way. The next festival here is the Spring Festival (on Feb 8th) where there will be a lot of shopping, cooking and pay New Year calls to friends and relatives .In addition ,don't know if you have heard of the Spring transportation and Spring Festival evening gala .
