We were going to be adventurous - then we changed our minds

I'm out for dinner tonight with my boss in Bremen (northern Germany). She was planning that we'd go to a new place but it's getting late, there are several inches of snow on the ground, and it's very cold out there.
So we thought better of it and instead of taking a tram for several stops and exploring somewhere new, we'll just go to our regular haunt at the city's Ubersee (overseas) Museum. We've been eating there for many years, know the menu inside out and never get a bad meal.
Summer and dry weather is for adventures. Today we'll settle for comfort food and a place that won't look askance at my rubber boots.

To someone like me who hasn't been to Europe in 30 years, just being in Bremen and seeing snow sounds like a grand adventure.

Bremen is lovely - visited it during a student exchange in the late 70's while staying in Lingen

My boss loves my rubber boots and wants me to get some for her.

Some days there's a lot to be said for familiar and comfortable.

I am with you on that. I like exploring when it is warm and sunny, but not cold, dark and wet.

@boiboing I was once at a conference with lots of German teachers. A small group of us went to a restaurant together for dinner. The Americans among us called a cab. The Germans walked there and back.

@ElizabethWallace - ah yes, only because they didn't have bicycles with them!

We were nearly REALLY unadventurous and ate in the hotel but I vetoed that.

I am like this sometimes too! I would plan something adventures and new and end up going to a restaurant that I am familiar with instead.

Bad weather would make me less adventurous too. Good to have a regular place to enjoy some good food

The first time I came to the city nearly 8 years ago, I ate in this place and I have been back so many times that I know the whole menu without having to look.

I agree with that. Do something you know. Explore when the weather's better.
