It's will only ruin a relationship that's not meant to be, I think its all about trust.
People cheat simply because they want too, cheating is not a mistake it's a choice.
that's where the " you don't know what you got until it's gone" and sometimes it takes a real man/women to make a change into that person life.

two separate questions really as relationship breakdown itself is not necessarily due to electronics - couples break up over breaches of trust, abuse or broken promises. Electronics get in the way if couples either only communicate through phones and computers rather than face to face or computers give away clues to deceptions and infidelities

There should be open communication channels within the relationship. Social media and gadgets should not be a problem if as a couple you speak and let your partner know about the things that you don"t like. My partner can use his gadgets and social media as long as its in moderation. He should respect our quality time. When in a committed relationship and that person really cares about you they make the effort and know where to draw the line.
As for cheating this is something that will never go away. You can be the best partner, be nurturing and take good care of your partner but if he wants to cheat he will. Its a personal choice and not a mistake. Its then up to you if you want to keep associating yourself with a person who does not respect you or value you as their significant other.

I partially agree to you but electronics are not the sole reason for the relationships to be ruined. Earlier when there was no so much advancement in the technology, then also people cheated. Yes, electronic gadgets can hamper a relationship. Assume you are with your partner and he/she is constantly on the phone checking texts and making calls it is bound to piss you off. Of course if you are not committed to that person sure you will dump that person. Coming to the cheating part, it depends on the mindset of the person. The person maybe not completely with the current relationship or the partner maybe be too demanding or completely irresponsible. In that scenario, if the person gets a helping hand and few good words from some one else which should have come from the partner the person may tend to cheat.
The main thing for a relationship to work is understanding. If you are with your partner and a joke comes on your cell from one of your friend. Instead of laughing alone you can share the same with your partner. He/she can also have a good laugh.
Hence we cannot blame completely on the technology for the relationships to fail.
