Social media is a double-edged sword!

Social Media is such a powerful tool. It can be used to drive and foster positive change in society. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are good ways to reach a big target audience when marketing your business. It connects family, friends and people all around the world.
Social Media is also a double-edged sword. Be careful of what you post on Twitter and Facebook. Be mindful not to post statements which are offensive to certain groups of people. In my country there has been an uproar in recent weeks about what certain individuals have been posting recklessly on Social Media. I would rather not go into detail on the matter here as it is a sensitive issue. People have been fired from their jobs because no company wants to be seen as promoting or excusing such behaviour.
Some companies and employment agencies even check your social media accounts when you are applying for jobs.
Do not get caught in that trap!

Social media isn't what it was 7 or 8 years ago. Back then you could speak whatever came to your mind. Now it has become a sign of your personality, character, ego and mentality. So you have to abide by certain unspoken laws while maintaining a social account. Some unwise posts can reflect badly on your repertoire.

Yes, you are right. Many people are careless what they post on social networking sites. They just think they will get few likes and comments but at the same time they would have hurt the sentiments of others. There are also cyber bullies who love to unnecessarily argue with someone. They just want to pick up a fight and prove their point. If the other person is shy or a little introvert then his/her confidence is shaken and that person will think a lot before posting something and he/she may never post due to the fear of such elements.

I work in social media every day as my job and I can agree with you on this. While I appreciate the many great things that social media has to offer, I also am regularly reminding my clients that posting recklessly can be damaging. Also, there are negative social and behavioral consequences to too much social media, especially for younger people.

My best friend and I talk about this all the time. About how jobs look at your sites sometimes to check you out before hiring you. It's crazy the things that people will post online about themselves sometimes and how open they are. I hardly get on these sites anymore. Mostly because its all the same anymore

its indeed a open platform, and freedom of expression is a right here, but we ofcourse should be not enjoying this right at the cost of hurting some community or any religion.one should make most of it by doing some creative, funny, interesting, and mindful activities.

Facebook was meant merely to connect people from your school, friends, relatives and families. at least that's what the founders said when they started this website. but people have been reckless and irresponsible, they want to show the world things that they do, some does lead them to loose their jobs.

You should only say what you would tell a person to their face. not hide behind a computer and say mean things to others.

Honestly, I don't think it's right for an employer to check ones social media sites. You can actually be turned down for a job if you don't have a social media site. I think social media site carry too much power in today's world.
