Working toward goals

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." C. S. Lewis Last week my youngest daughter started a new permanent position at a Private School and got her diary all ready for her Things to Do and Budget . . . It seems she is following some of my habits, which are good ones and in observing her I suggested that she set some goals as well. In setting GOALS we need to remember to KEEP THEM REAL. *Write your goals for the year down in January - Stick to 5 if possible. *Plan for Great Events - budget for them and then you will never miss out on the things you want to do. *Dont always think you can have what you want NOW - sometimes a month or two of waiting and saving makes the impossible dream, possible. *Aim to materialize at least 3 goals a year, this way you are always moving forward in your dreams, aspirations and adventures. *As you achieve them, mark them off and celebrate in a special way (I remember when my children were young - report card day always came with the reward of a MILKSHAKE - My children LOVED report card day!) *Goals . . . whether they be personal, be educational, travel, romantic or financial - get them going, you will always be moving up. Hard work never killed anyone, and to achieve your goals be prepared to work hard, have dedication and commitment, perseverance and tenacity and the will to achieve. Have you set some Goals for 2016? Best of Luck if you have. "Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan." Tom Landry

More than goals is important to have a plan and to fix our personal limits, the time you can dedicate to a project, how much money and so on.

yes that is if your goals are financially driven, but if you have a goal like wanting to run a marathon in 6 months and other, you should also set a plan in motion

Just picking up on one of your points - you say you can't have everything NOW. If you have to work and wait for something there is far more satisfaction to be had when you eventually get there.

My goal last year is to write a book and looking back, if I it happens that I didn't finish it, maybe I am frustrated now and angry with my ownself. You have a good ways to achieve the goal. Husband and I celebrated the book. 3 goals a year? OMG! Hehe...

Sometimes they are called goals, objectives or targets, other times they are called dreams. Which ever way one sees it, they all become achievements.

Very inspirational. I have few goals in my mind but never made such a detailed plan towards them. You have given all of us detailed guidelines. I am sure we will be benefited by following these. Thanks a lot for sharing such helpful tips. I will try to follow and implement these for the goals I have set.

My goal for this year is to finally get my own house instead of renting out an apartment. I've been wanting to do that but was unable to do so due to a lot of circumstances. Bit this year, my game plan is solid. I just hope to make it.

I should really spend time reviewing my life goals, including my spouse in the process.

A very inspirational post! I can accomplish 70% of the goals I set for myself each year, and for 2016 I have to make a list as I have so many things to do. One of them is to save for buying a new mobile phone. That I definitely have to do because without a smartphone it's hard to get by these days. There are several others which I won't bore you with! Have a nice day!

Great motivation here. Going goal-less through life is like sailing without a rudder.

@Inlemay It's good your daughter is following your good habits. One thing that struck me as I was reading is that people seem to forget that hard work doesn't kill you and if you don't work hard you get nowhere.

Setting a goal is good. But drawing a road map by breaking down the goals to successfully achieve it in time is all the more important.Personal goals have nothing to do with age.

Some goals won't be easy to accomplish but it can be done through motivation. Writing them down in a safe place is a good idea. Goals are meant to be accomplished.
