What a Mess I Created

United States
January 11, 2016 11:22am CST
I was looking for something in my desk today and wound up cleaning it out. Or, I should say, taking everything out with the plan to reorganize it. Now I have a huge mess with piles of papers etc on my desktop and no room to work or do anything. One simple task leads to a huge project

Oh today is almost over. I should go to a token effort on my desk! Just to claim I participated!

Once you put everything away then the project will have been worth pulling everything apart.

@Marilynda1225 It always feel good to finish something you have started even if it took longer than you thought it would.

@marcyaz it does feel good to have it done even though it took longer than I wanted

Funny how that happens Marilyn. Still, it will keep you busy for a good while friend. It feels so good to get things done afterwards.

@tiarasoceanview it took me longer than I had anticipated and I kept thinking of how many other things I'd rather be doing

Oh I hate it when that happens! I hope that you were able to get everything sorted out and put back in its rightful spots.

That's why I only have a small computer desk - when I get a document/paper I file it or shred it..no place to put it down! Good luck with your organization.

@Marilynda1225 Now that you got it unstuffed don't load it back up again. I used to go to my mom's years ago and clean out the drawers in her china cabinet...a month later they looked like I never bothered. I finally gave up.

This happens to me lot. Then my OCD kicks in and I have to clean it all up before it drives me crazy. Hahaha I hope you found what you were looking for. I've done this plenty of times and the item I was looking for usually ends up somewhere totally different than where I created the mess. That's just my luck. :)

@phenomenal1 yes I found what I was looking for pretty fast but figured since I already made a mess I might as well get it all organized

Wow, that must be a mess accumulated by months of unorganized papers. I hate it when I have too many papers that I have to sort out. As far as possible, I just to clear the emails and physical papers on the same day that I receive it.

That has happened to me before (a small clean up ends up being a big clean up). For example: a receipt drawer, that didn't look too much like a chore to clean out, ends up being a big mess and a big clean up.

I have to do the same, it's since the first day of the year that I look to my desk and I say to myself that I have to reorganize it... may be tomorrow.

@ladyduck as happy as I am that it's all organized now I wish I had waited until tomorrow and then the following tomorrow, and then the following tomorrow

Isn't that the way, you start to clean out a little corner, and it leads to a big job.

I do that every year at work to start the new year. I start this big cleaning and organizing project in my office, and end up creating a mess! Every year I say I'm going to do it differently, and every year I end up doing the same thing!
