A Fight Against Time

As I observe the changes that come with time reflected in my mirror I wonder how far I am prepared to go in order to slow down the inevitable aging process.
So far I have not gone any distance at all. I have allowed my hair to turn grey and a moisturizing cream is the only discouragement I apply against the deepening of the old and arrival of new wrinkles
.
I have not completely ruled out obliterating the grey, having observed that a discrete hair dye works wonder for some. A little plastic surgery on the bags under my eyes seems desirable but fears of chemicals on my head and a knife on my face keep me holding back.
Botox is not even an option having seen some of the disastrous results following injections.
In conclusion I suspect that the only option I will take is to grow old gracefully – if such an undertaking is achievable

It is a matter of knowing the basics of taking care of our skin. Eating well and exfoliating the old skin so we don't have crepey skin. If we get in good habits early on it helps too.

@41CombedaleRoad ...And your face and neck thanks you. LOL Taking care of face and neck can give you lots of years you wouldn't normally have other wise.

I have moisturized my face and neck since I was in my early twenties, people say I have a good skin for my age. My daughter has a good skin too so it may just be in the genes.

I know just how you feel! My mirror and I aren't best friends any longer! I know it had to be lying to me, showing me wrinkles that I didn't feel old enough to have! I did let my hair go gray for a while, but started coloring it again and an very glad I did.
Moisturizer was my only weapon against the wrinkles until I did the ultrasound face lift a few months ago. I did 8 treatments and I can't tell a big difference, but I know my skin is tighter and the wrinkles are at least not as deep as they once were. I am probably going to go back and do some more once the weather improves.

I have never heard of ultra sound for a facelift but it sounds much nicer than the knife. I'm glad it has been of benefit.

You and me both. I used to color my hair until about 5 years ago. I started liking how the gray mixed in with my natural color. I wear it short like Jamie Lee Curtis and I love how easy it is to fix. As for the wrinkles, I am proud of every one of them although they do seem to be coming up a little too fast lately...lol.

You must enjoy your laughter lines, they tell the story of a happy life, it's the frown lines that we would rather not have...

@41CombedaleRoad it's true, you look good! My Ma always tells me, to strive to look more regal as I age..
I can see her point now, your photo is a perfect example!

That is fine if we enjoy the way the flow goes.

@41CombedaleRoad your fight against time strucks me most today! Though it is fighting with self and life accomplishment I am working now rather than my physical looks. But I love your growing old gracefully option. So taking from you, I will live and grow gracefully too!

I'm not sure that I will be able to grow old gracefully, I'm too quick to respond when things don't suit me. Perhaps I will slow down as I grow older, that would help a little.

@41 Combedale. I think that is not just happening to you. but also to everyone including me..anyway you've already made a wise decision, that " you will take is to grow old gracefully ".. I really like that, and I want to learn how to grow old gracefully too.
