Where to go on vacation?

I haven't been on vacation in years and think it's about time I went away somewhere.
I am not a huge fan of lounging on the beach all day for an entire week. I find it boring and even exhausting. I prefer to go exploring and sightseeing instead.
There are so many places to see and visit that it's hard to make up my mind... Any suggestions for great vacation destinations?

I have not thought about how much I am willing to spend on my vacation. That is definitely something to think about.

If you like lounging on the beach, I have had good experiences in Mexico - in Rivieria Maya which is just outside Cancun. There are a lot of all-inclusive, beach-side resorts that are reasonably priced and have amazing service and white sandy beaches. I would just suggest - read reviews! And like anywhere you go, be safe. Hope you have a great vacation (if you have not already taken it, that is!)

I've been to Riviera Maya before. I actually got food poisoning toward the end of my vacation there.

I am your opposite, I enjoy the beach more than any other type of vacation.

Many people find the beach type vacations very relaxing. To me it is actually quite exhausting spending the entire day on the beach.

I don't travel cause I dont have the means. i have never been to disney world but you'd do lots of walking to get to see it all. Maybe road trip to see the grand canyon or something like that?

Great suggestion about Disney World. I've actually never been to Disney World. Would love to there someday.

I do love nature and animals. Not sure how close I want to get to the big ones though. I'd be terrified.

I'm not sure what area you're from but sometimes it's nice just to stay at a cabin somewhere and enjoy the peace and the calm. :-)

It would surely be nice to do that. Maybe going camping for a few days is the way to go.

Well, my favourite vacation is skiing. For that I recommend the Canadian Rockies. (your dollar is worth a lot here right now.) Second favourite probably hiking. I recommend Canadian Rockies for that too.
Really, it just depends what you like to do. Europe is wonderful for sightseeing and so are many other places.
