Amazon is the largest online store in the world. There is another one called Alibaba which is trying to compete with Amazon but I don't think Amazon will be afraid of this challenge at least for awhile. I think Amazon is so well established and it is a brand that almost everyone in North America or in the United Kingdom will definitely take a look when they want something online. I used their services before and I think it was a good services to me anyway. However, you may not see things that way. That's the reason I want to ask anyone that what will be the best alternative other than Amazon for you and why do you say that ?

Amazon is a great company. I've used them for a number of years and have fantastic service. The returns policy is also excellent if you have an issue with a faulty or damaged item. I am also a member of Amazon Prime which gives us next day delivery on many items and access to online streaming videos. I have never heard of Alibaba, but I would need some convincing to change from Amazon.

I think it 's good for books and not for other things. Not even garments. It's quite costlier than other shopping sites in India. Evan Ebay is also much better.

Well in our country it is Amazon.in and it is comperatively newer in the race of shopping sites. they have a great competitor Ebay.com which provides very reasonable rate for their products, even sometimes I find cheaper than Amazon. There are also Flipkart, Snapdeal, Askmebazar, shopclues and so many good competitors which I think gives every buyer a fair choice to get products at reasonable price & quality. But especially I like to mention the quality and the hugh stock of books of Amazon and at reasonable price. So while buying books I have been immensly dependent on Amazon.

Amazon is a nice online store and I used to buy from it. But since they increased the amount to RMB99 so that you can have the free delivery, then I don't buy from them so often. When I buy groceries, I will go to 1hao. If I buy some digital things, I will go to JD and its delivery is super fast. I will buy other things from Taobao and Tmall.

I have never heard of the other one, but Amazon is definitely ruling in the United States still - it is HUGELY popular. And it's amazing; you can buy everything - new and used - on there for a good price and often free shipping if you have Prime. (I do not personally). I buy all of my music and books on Amazon, even some shoes here and there! I also sell things on Amazon as well - such as my used school textbooks - and get a little something too. I love Amazon.

I used Alibaba once when it was the only place that had an item I wanted and I found them after doing a search for said item. No one, not even Amazon had exactly what I wanted. Alibaba did, BUT they are based in China and it took a long time to receive my order here in the US. Since I used them, their name seems to have come more to the forefront in the online retail world, but they are still virtually unknown in the States. They have a long way to go to compete on an international basis with Amazon.

I associate Amazon with books although I understand we can find just about anything on there. I still use eBay probably only because I am used to it...

I don't see it as competitor. Amazon is for RETAILERS. Alibaba is for WHOLESALERS. Amazon sellers/retailers could sell products from Alibaba. We have Lazada in the Philippines.
