Infamous playboy legend Hugh Hefner is 89 year old. His current wife and girlfriends are young enough to be his granddaughters.
91 year old Marjorie McCool hooks up with 31 year old Kyle Jones. She is far from cool (pun intended) and their relationship is viewed as unconventional.
As men continue to collect young, attractive wives as status symbols, women are being labelled as cougars when they date younger men.
The term cougar sounds desperate and has a negative connotation attached to it.
Aren’t older women-younger man couples the same as any other partnership between two adult, consenting equals?
It certainly isn’t helping when the media portrays cougar relationships as fetishes or short-lived affairs.

When I started dating my now husband, people never said a word. When we got serious, people questioned our relationship. He is 19 1/2 years younger than me. People always have had problems with women dating younger men, when it is acceptable for men to date younger women. I hate it when I am called a cougar.

@Ladypeace I questioned the age difference when we first started dating. One of my friends was freaked out over it. She said I was old enough to be his mother. I constantly reminded her that he was not my son though.
Now he is accepted by her and we all get along well.

I think that double standards exist due to certain insecure individuals' failure to see how younger men could be genuinely attracted to older women. With progressive gender parity in the 21st century, I feel that women are empowered to take reign of their own destinies - including their relationships with men. There is nothing more beautiful then an independent and confident matured lady!

All's well that ends well, it's sweet to know that you and your partner have managed to pull through good.

It's mainstream for men to go for younger which I think it's unfair why women can't do the same without being judged. I'm glad that people who feel that real love knows no age are those who don't judge.

As long as both parties are of a legal age, nothing should stop them.

It's good that you're non judgmental of these 2 types of relationships. We need more people like you.

That is a ridiculous age gap. The 91 year old woman is obviously not going to live much longer, so they can hardly make any long-term plans.
Hugh Hefner and his 'girlfriends' is equally ridiculous. His attraction is his money and the girls are wannabes.

That's the typical double standards of society, men are glorified for the things they do but when women to the same we are tainted with names that are just demeaning. I pray for the day when women won't be treated as less than men, because even though we are in the year 2016 it's still no better than centuries passed it's just done in a different way.

Well said, gender parity may be progressing but it remains a touchy issue today affecting various aspects of women's lives.
