Fright Night

Last night, a bright full moon was glowing in the sky. My husband was already in bed, I went out to admire the sky.
I only stayed out a few minutes, the night was not very cold, but not even warm.
I went back inside, closed the french window leading to the patio, went to bed too and turned off the light.
Almost immediately, I heard noises coming from downstairs.
I waked up my husband and we carefully went down in the dark, trying to be as silent as we could.
At mid stairs, we noticed that the curtains were moving.
My husband told me to go back upstairs and be ready to call the police.
At that very moment we both heard a faint "meow".
A cat in the house? I turned on the light and Willy, the cat of our neighbor was there, near the window, looking at us.
He surely came inside while I was looking at the moon.
I lifted Willy, cuddled him for a moment and send him back to "his" house.
It was only a false alarm, but for a moment I was scared.

My neighbour's cat is very much the same and wanders into my house at every opportunity. On several occasions I have suddenly heard footsteps on the stairs as she has woken up and decided to go back out, despite me not having known that she ever came in.

Cats are known for being able to move quietly so it is not surprising that he slipped in while you had the door open.

@LadyDuck that's another thing about cats they keep changing their minds about whether they want in or out...

Aw the poor cat jumped in for curiosity and caused a stir for your Anna. I would also have been frightened.
That pic of the moon is absolutely gorgeous Anna.
Well, I hope Willy will stay in his own house now haha

@TiarasOceanView I took a photo, but it's not very good, it's a bit blurred. Yes, Willy is friendly with me, he is a sweet kitty.

Yeah that would have scared the bejeebers out of me too. How did Willy get inside?

@LadyDuck at least it was just a cat! We have to be careful because there are skunks and other wildlife that could wander in if we were to leave our door open.

@ElusiveButterfly I only left the door open for a couple of minutes, I suppose the cat was just behind ready to come inside.

@allen0187 He has calmed down, I suppose he is more "mature" now. He only comes inside when I invite him and stays on my feet while I type.

You had every reason to be scared as it was a scary situation, not knowing that it was only Willy. You know what they say: will he or won't he?

@LadyDuck It was a night fright that ended right! Willi's comment: " I don't know what the fuss was all about, I was just taking my nightly stroll."

Seems like he has a free passage to come and go as he please so he has been making use of it plenty.

I can imagine how scary that was. I'm glad I don't have any neighbors with a cat because I often leave the doors open in nice weather.

Whoa! I thought there's an intruder downstairs, but it's good it's just a cat.
