Tell Me Something About You

I never know how to answer someone when they ask to know who I am, or more about me. There's the superficial answer, I'm a 33 year old mother of one, living in North Dakota. But what else do I share about me? Weird quirks? Relationship status? Crazy things I do? What actually makes me me? I homeschool my son. He's almost ten. I have two dogs and two cats. I work from home. I've been married over 10 years, but we've been separated almost a year now. I'm left handed. I'm pretty creative. I'm passionate about helping children. My favorite charity is operation Christmas child. I micromanage my small church's operation Christmas Child giving, but they seem to like it, so it works. Haha. So what about you? What makes you, you?

I've been married 50 years, have one son and one daughter, no grandchildren. I hadn't touched a computer or written anything until 2 and a half years ago, age 73. Among other things I write stories from my childhood, and write silly limericks and poems.

I think there are many ways to answer that question. The quick superficial one. I list of things, or one thing that I feel like talking about at the time. I am an empty nester, a substitute teacher and a mystery shopper. We have 7 children between us, one deceased. We have 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren between us. That's what I was in the mood to mention today.

It's always interesting seeing what people choose to share. :) It's nice getting to know a little about you.

I would answer this question depending on what situation. If I am with friends, there is no way I have to explain myself. Of course, if it a job interview. That would be a different. It would be answered to impress the interviewer.

That's true. It definitely depends on who is asking. For me, I was mainly talking about people you've just met, but will maybe become friends with.

Most answers would be superficial. To really know someone you would need to spend time with them. I am mother of five, all successfully launched. Grandmother of eight. Babysitter, chauffeur, caregiver to my elderly father, happily married for 40 years.......

That's definitely true about spending time with someone to get to know them. But sometimes that's an early question when you are getting to know someone.

That's awesome. I've tried to knit a couple of times, but failed both times. Haha. I'm not good at sticking with things when I'm not automatically good, or at least see improvement quickly. I should work on that.

Good description of yourself and good question for others to ponder. You are about the same age as my granddaughter, so the "me" I am, is well-established. Many people my age, (and it's not the age that's on my short bio. I don't know how that age number got there and I don't know how to change it. I will be 75 years old this year.) But, many people my age, are very set in their ways. You get that way after many years of living. I've experienced many things, traveled extensively and had many reasons to develop endurance. I'm not a complex person, I don't think. I've always had my head on straight, in my opinion. No extreme, complex personality here. Those who have known me a long time consider me as being well-informed, kind and considerate of others. I've always been a voracious reader of books and the Bible, which I especially treasure. I enjoy learning as much as I can, which also transforms me into a "trivia nut" of course. I'm married to the same man now for many years. My children are all grown and married and live nearby, except my oldest son who lives about 4 hours away in NC. I have 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren that I see every week, except for one grandson that lives in NC. He's in college now. I've also have ALWAYS been a writer. I just published my first novel, but I have written poetry all my life and written for two newspapers.

I love getting to know other people and seeing what they share about themselves. I've always been a writer too. :) These days I don't do much writing for myself, though. I'm pretty busy with the technical writing that pays the bills.

I am married, have one grown daughter, am retired (with a very part-time job to keep my wild birds fed). I also do some acting through and extras site in Portland, OR and locally too. I do yoga, walk, and play table tennis for exercise.

Are you one of those people who needs to stay busy? My mom is that way. She's been off work for a while recovering from surgery. She's definitely ready to go back to work, although she says she might switch to part time soon.

I am happily married for nearly forty years - one son working. Semi-retired finance/accounts guy, now busy in my passion - writing and sharing my thoughts. My aim is to see a better world in my lifetime where we view others as human beings just like us and treat our fellow travelers as part and parcel of our lives. I quote Gandhi “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Also stop repeating our mistakes that are ongoing from time immemorial as they can do us in increasingly and make a mockery of our inner knowing - siva

Wow a noble project charity on.Operation Christmas child...how do you do it? The children in your church must be very happy. We may copy it as one of our community project, too. I am passionate about helping the poor. you are generous in sharing your life's story. You will easily make friends. Pleasure to know you.

Thanks! We treat Operation Christmas Child as a year round project at my church. I have shopping lists that people from our congregation can take, and then they bring the stuff into church and we store it in an otherwise unused classroom. Everyone is free to bring in anything else they want to, too. But I do ask that they bring in everything on the list of they take one. Just so we make sure we have all the basic items we need for every shoe box we send.

@carlaabt ah ok great! so there's a spirit of cooperation and volunteerism among members, anyway ' they're not doing it for men, but for God" You're all blessed. You worked from home, and homeschooled your son. I knew one who did the same , homeschooled their two children, but they expanded to accommodate friends and neighbors, and now became a little school in their backyard with good income..
