Video games: just a waste of time or a hobby?

For me it is definitively a hobby.
I can calm down when I play video games and it makes me happy.
Through my illness I never was a kid which stayed outside all day long and even today I feel better at home than outside. I love to start the laptop and to begin a game. I like to talk to other players and to play with them. My favorite categories of games are first-person shooters and strategy games.
What's about you? How do you feel about Video games?

I've had a lot of fun with sim3. Do you know this one? I find it relaxing.
It does not function online however.
Also in the past spent my time on a type of chat game online where you were able to chat with others while designing avatars and places for them to live as 3d animations. I've tried other games for fun just to see what they are like.

At a yard sale I picked up the Sims and later got Sims 3. It was a lot of fun and interesting at the same time. Of course the time you spend playing it can make you question what you do.
However like you wrote it can be hobby not just a waste of time. University life was interesting. I went a few times once the sim played around mostly while another time the sim was very dedicated to the studies.
How long will you stick with one game?

May you can choose to run the game with another Windows version; tap on the icon with the right mouse button and go to the settings - there is a option for it to change the Windows Version for the game. (I hope you understand; it is difficult for me to explain) Since I have Windows 8 I need to change the settings at the most games ...
And on Windows 10 the most games do not run even when you change it ...

I think playing the video games is just a hobby. Of course it is not good if you are addicted to it so much. I like playing the games like The Sims. I remember long time ago when I was single, I could play this game for a whole night. It's lots of fun. Today I seldom play video games since I am afraid I will spend more time on it.

Oh, I have never been much of a video game fan....I enjoy playing Mario occasionally on my sister's Nintendo Wii but that is really about it. I know some people who take it FAR too seriously and will play for like 8 hours straight. I can't say it's a waste of time though, because if we say that, WE have to evaluate our hobbies. For example, we could argue that MyLot is a waste of time, reading is a waste of time, playing sports is a waste of time - because what do we actually accomplish in this time? Personally, I don't think the point of hobbies is to accomplish anything, I think it's to let some steam off and enjoy yourself. To me, anything that makes you less stressed and more happy is not a waste of time by any means.

I have games on my iPhone and ipad, and the ones I like the most are the cooking games. The one I have on my ipad is called chef town, and I just can't stop playing it. I do however, take a break from it, so I am not contually playing it, like right now. I also like city building games, but I am not doing any of those right now, as I want to just do one game at a time. I have put other cokking games on my ipad and would play them too, but it got to be to much, so I just took them off, and will just stick with chef town. I consider playing any kind of game is a hobby.

Anything that keeps people sitting for a long time without exercising their muscles is unhealthy, be it movies or be it video games. Even myLotting.lol.
I think video games and some of the games available these days immunize the brain against any crimes and actions. Once the mind accepts it to be ok, shifting into the real thing is not as much of a trouble as it is in the case of people who are not using such games.

In case of PewdiePie it is more than a hobby because uploading his video game gameplay made him a Millionaire with a networth of 4 Million dollars a year.
In case of Justin Wong and Daigo Umewara , they became millionaires by competing in tournaments of the video game Street Fighter 4.
It is not a waste of time at all.
