A Kind Of Work That You Are Willing To Do Without Being Paid

After graduating from university, the only thing that runs into my mind is to earn for a living. High hopes to pour the monetary values in my savings account. It takes years before I realized that there are so many things that you can still do without being paid. That is, volunteerism. It is a noble work that sometimes people perceived unworthy to do. It has been said by some, miracle works with the volunteers. That’s what I did five years ago. I left my country to accept the mission for one year. I was really overwhelmed with the experience with the local people. However, volunteer work should not be brag and of course, you are in low profile. I had done the simplest lifestyle during my time as a volunteer. As for me, it is a kind of work that cannot be paid by anyone. The memories can never be replaced with luxury things. How about you guys? Are you willing to join and work as a volunteer?

@TypicalRussian I agree that we need to stop for a reason. The UK-based NGO was asking me to extend for another program. But I refused the offer, since I am still young. However, I am still open for volunteering locally and internationally will be in the future.

@Qwatte well, i participated in a short-time workcamps that had a duration of 1 month. I took part in a workcamp in Switzerland and in Czech Republic. Mostly i did the same manual work as my international friends. But i managed to write a small article to local Swiss newspaper about my experience. I have it somewhere.

When you are willing to help others without getting paid for it, your reward comes to your heart. You FEEL the joy that comes with giving. This is in agreement with what Jesus said: "There is more happiness in giving, than there is in receiving." Acts 20:35 Good for you, to volunteer. I'm sure that you have wonderful memories about what you were able to do, to help others. Those memories will sustain your feeling of worth and happiness for all your life, going forward. I also have volunteered for many years now.

@IreneVincent You said it right my dear friend. My experience as a volunteer is like a never ending story to people who wanted to listen about it. I do hope to experience it again in the future.

I always think money is not the important thing we need to pursue. I think it's always good to be a volunteer, no matter what you are working on. I have always been wanting to do that since I was young, but at the moment, I just help out as much as I can. You did great that you even accepted the mission and help the people in other country.

@SIMPLYD You just need to have a long work experience in your profession. At least five years. The recruitment NGO branch will assess your resume and see if they can match your work experience in transferring your skills to certain countries.

The first years of my life after graduation was working for my brother in his NGO but It was akward because he was strict and some how we have arguments and fights. I tried it again but there was a incident and he went mad at me from it. from then on i decided not to volunteer for him anymore.

@LetranKnight2015 I guess your brother is perfectionist. The best part of working in an NGO, they are far organized with the government agencies. During my time, the platform of my project are well-detailed. The only thing I can do is to execute the tasks.

You did a great job.Well done my friend. Well I am volunteering in a NGO and I'm loving it.It's a NGO that works for the upliftment of kids.I love spending time with them, teaching them and giving them time and helping them up in whatever way I can.The best thing is the smile and happiness I see on their faces that makes me feel contented.

@Qwatte The feeling is mutual. There is always something that you cannot forget whenever you rendered your service to people as volunteer.
