Coughing and Chocolate

I've had a cough for 4 days now, started as a sore throat on the weekend and then turned into a cough. At first I was happy the sore throat was gone thinking that I just had to cough a little and then i'd be clear... but now this cough is getting old! Well today I read an article about chocolate may help calm coughs. Couldn't hurt right :-D So I had some crispy m&ms (the only chocolate we have currently) and besides being very tasty, I have found that I have not had the urge to cough in about 10 minutes now. I know that's not very long, but I've been coughing so much and so often that even a little break is a victory! It was on webmd so it must be true ;) Actually webmd just posted the study and said it's possible it could help. I am going to be eating chocolate all day as long as it seems to be working :-D Have you ever tried this? Any other wacky or unusual ideas that have worked for you when you had a nagging cough??

I never heard of that before. But I do know that mixing some honey and cinnamon together and taking a spoonful now and again really helps a cough.

Wow that's interesting. I have done the honey thing and usually my daughter gets honey, but never thought to add cinnamon. I may have to try that.

Darn I wish I had known that a few weeks ago when I had a horrible cough. I've heard pineapple juice works well too, but I didn't know that then either.

I heard Pineapple juice too but we didn't have any! I almost went and bought some but my cough finally improved.

Coughing can be reduced by gargling hot water with salt.

Yeah but that's sooooo gross lol. I'd rather just eat chocolate!

For me, drinking apple cider vinegar with water for months has made my coughing not so bad this season (every winter I get a bad cough that lingers on forever - thankfully not this time for once). I find that lemon in my water helps too.

I should try the lemon. I drink a ton of water so that might help!

Well it seemed to help me but it could have just been a placebo affect :)

I've never heard such a thing, but it sounds like a yummy cure! I will try it next time I get a cough. Or just next time I have some chocolate :)

I am no sure with the chocolate intake that can help for coughing. You can try to have a hot ginger tea. It would be effective to get rid the cough.

Yeah a lot of people suggest tea, I'm not a huge fan of tea. But I did have a hot chocolate the other day that helped :)
