Will you be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow?

The Super Bowl is a big deal to many Americans. I more or less couldn't care less, but I'll be at a friend's house watching--sort of. She probably couldn't tell you what teams are in the Super Bowl, but it's an excuse to get some friends together. For the record, it's the Carolina Panthers versus the Denver Broncos. The main thing I'll be doing tomorrow is avoiding San Francisco or Santa Clara, as "we" "(the San Francisco Bay Area) are hosting the Super Bowl this year. Temperatures are expected to be around 70 under sunny skies. Will you be watching? Or could you care less?

I have an MRI at the hospital tomorrow, then I'll come home and watch the Puppy Bowl. The Super Bowl is inconsequential, although I'm rooting for the Broncos.

@TheHorse Hallmark has the kitty bowl. LOL @FourWalls I'm not sure but I thought Hallmark was doing both during the superbowl. I don't know which order though.

@Kikijoyce Those tight breeches(thanks @DaddyEvil) can certainly be distracting. LOL I wonder if they distract the other players? Just saying...

I am not interested in sports, politics or religion. I am happy if people's teams win but I could care less myself. I know it's a big deal and that is good that they have it to do. Hope they enjoy themselves and don't have big fights like they have before. Good luck to your team winning.

I don't care about the football game. I might try to turn on the super bowl just for the commercials. LOL

@TheHorse ..2 teams. 11 guys each. There is a long narrow pitch with three narrow sticks holding up the bails on each side. This would be the wicket. There are crease lines marking the limit of the pitch that the batmen have to touch or cross to add runs to their score. The bowler can't cross that crease line while bowling. So the batsman stands at the crease and waits for the bowler to deliver the ball which the batsman hits as far as possible and runs to the other end and back as often as he can. If the fielding team manages to pull off the bails either by bowling or by fielding, the batsman goes out. Leg before the wicket is another way of declaring the batsman out. Once the team is done...that is 10 batsmen are out, the other team has to score one more run than the first team to defeat it. Teams can also choose to declare before 10 batsmen are out and get the other team to play believing that the second team cannot win. Alternately, they can ask the other team to "follow on" if they have accumulated huge total and the other team failed to get a minimum. There are two innings and this variant is the test match. Each over consists of 6 balls (over is the number of balls a bowler is going to bowl from one end). Once the bowler has completed a second bowler starts bowling his over to batsman standing at the opposite crease. There are faster versions, the one day or 50 overs version, and 20 overs versions. Test can get boring. lol

@vandana7 Thanks! I actually learned from your description. I have to actually watch a match to really "get it." If a fielder catches a batted ball on the fly, is the batter "out"? I've heard that matches can go on for a long time, and that tea is sometimes consumed during breaks. Are the breaks between "innings"?

I could care less, but will be hosting a Super Bowl party for my brother and his business associate, who is visiting for a few days. I am more interested in the food, fun, and commercials. None of our teams made it, so that's why none of us care. If our team made it, I would banish myself to another room to bring them good luck.

I'll be watching because the Panthers are playing, otherwise I might have it on in the background so I could catch the commercials. I hope this year's commercials are better than last year's.

@nanette64 Knowing what I do about you, Nanette, I am going to say it was very "lady-like" and leave it at that! (Notice, I didn't say where the "lady" came from or what profession she was in, though... ) Will that work for you? (chuckling at/with you!)

I care because restaurants become unpleasant places when this football game, or any football game is on. I was planning on going to the movies, but since our air is full of particles to which I am allergic, I'll stay home instead, but won't be watching this game. But, maybe now, since football season is over, things will return to normal. Or, will they be showing old games and reliving old glories for the next several months?

@TheHorse I hope so. Football is the only sport that encourages people to scream in public. Golf, baseball and basketball are so much more civilized and quiet.

Wow, 70 degree weather???!!! That's great football weather there! Yes, I will be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow night. I can't wait neither. I'm hoping that Denver will win the game against the Carolina Panthers. But from the looks on their stats, Carolina may get the Broncos. I hope not though. And also, the DL in the Carolina Panthers is starting for it. He's GOOD!!! I can't remember his name, but, I know his position.
